ispratili.

AB - The paper shows the comparative analysis of behavior and bearing capacity of piles examined using the Dynamic Load Test (DLT) according to Static Load Test (SLT) results. The pile testing methodology is based on the existing ASTM standards and experiences of the authors of the paper. The pile tests were carried out using counterweights, reactive system, dynamic testing equipment, hardware and software for SLT and DLT. The data obtained by testing were statis-tically processed, and also a regression analysis of the linear function was conducted, resulting in the creation of the model for the change of mobilized static bearing capacity from DLT according to SLT. In addition, a procedure for correcting the solution of mobilized static bearing capacity from DLT according to SLT, is made by observing provisions of standard EN 1997-1:2004, so the average deviation of solutions from DLT according to SLT is reduced. Apart from that, through iterations, the value of correlation factor ξ5 is determined, taking into consideration solutions presented by SLT and DLT of piles of the real structures.

AB - The application of dispersive soil can result in various types of damage, and even the collapse of embanked build-ings if it is not identified. Dispersive soils cannot be uniquely identified by visual identification in the field, or by usual standard methods used for soil identification in the geo-mechanical laboratory. The paper presents the results of laboratory geomechanical tests aimed at identifying and classifying erodible dispersive fine-grained soil. The tests were carried out using the crumb test, the double hydrometer test (SCS), and the pinhole test on samples: sandy clay embankment dams of ‘Rovni’, loess from different locations (Zemun, Novi Beograd, Titel, Kelebija, Srbobran, Slanka-men, Ruma, Mali Iđoš) and kaolinite sandy clay deposits Grabež - Aranđelovac. The possibility of improving disper-sive soil by adding fly ash was also analyzed. Pinhole tests on dispersive soil samples with the addition of 10, 30 and 50 % ash showed that there was a decrease in dispersivity of natural soil for one to two dispersion classes.

AB - Razvojem građevinskog konstrukterstva, projektovanja i izgradnje objekata pod rukovodstvom vrhunskih stručnjaka Instituta IMS, u vreme postojanja Jugoslavije, razvijala se i svest o potrebi uvođenja geotehničkog inženjerstva u okviru instituta.

AB - The paper presents the comparative analysis of several piles for different pier locations of a bridge by employing in-situ deep foundations tests and in-situ soil tests. The focus of the paper is on the
presentation of the reliability of solutions obtained using the Dynamic Load Test (DLT) for in-situ
tests of the bearing capacity of deep foundations – piles. The DLT test was conducted in two stages:
in-situ DLT of piles and pile bearing capacity analysis using the wave theory and the method of
characteristics. The signals of upward traveling force waves, obtained by in-situ DLT of piles were
signal matched with the signals of the numerical nonlinear model of the dynamic pile-soil interaction.
The results of DLT of pile bearing capacity are presented as componential values (regarding the pile
base and the pile shaft) and as a cumulative value (total bearing capacity), so that the comparison of
DLT and pressuremeter test (PMT) was conducted both according to componential and cumulative
bearing capacities. Since it is not possible to strictly conduct DLT and PMT for the same settlement
level, it is not possible to directly compare the bearing capacity, however the comparison was
performed taking into account the bearing capacities from PMTs according to Eurocode 7. DLTs
provided bearing capacities which correlate well with the PMTs results. Also, DLTs determined the
corresponding elastoplastic settlement for the designed resistance of piles, which is very useful to the designers in the analysis of serviceability (settlement) of both the pier locations and of the entire bridge.

AB - The paper presents the results of testing the influence of mineralogical composition on the physical and mechanical properties of clayey soil, i.e. Atteberg consistency limits. The tests were conducted on samples of highly plastic clay soil with a high content of clay component in the granulometric composition (CF>80%). The results show that the liquid limit (LL) and the plasticity index (PI) increase with the increased content of clay minerals. High content of clay fraction, high values of Atteberg's consistency limits, analysis of colloidal activity, mineralogical and chemical analyzes showed that these are bentonite type clays containing montmorillonite and kaolinite minerals.

AB - Due to rapid development of modern highways and railroad in Serbia, the need for embankment materials has increased. Deposits of natural materials used for this purpose often contain dispersive soils. On the other hand, thermal power plants in Serbia annually generate several million tons of fly ash, which could be used to reduce the dispersion of material embedded in embankments. The paper presents the results of tests conducted for the first time in Serbia to assess the improvement in natural soil dispersivity with fly ash from a thermal power plant. The dispersivity of mixtures of fly ash and natural soil was tested according to ASTM and BS standards. To determine the optimal ash content, 10, 30 or 50% of fly ash was added to the soil samples. The results show that 30-50% of fly ash reduces the dispersivity of natural soil for one to two dispersion classes.

AB - This paper formulates a mathematical model using the extrapolation of load-settlement curves with a rational function for analyzing the capacity of piles obtained from the static load test (SLT). In preliminary analyses, the extrapolation was based on the application of a number of mathematical functions that were gradually eliminated by iterative selection and filtering. The solution was obtained by extrapolation with a rational function. Using a rational function in the extrapolation of the load-settlement curve, a clearly identifiable part is obtained in which the asymptote is vertical, indicating the reached limit state of capacity in the soil and/or in the pile. The probabilistic analysis showed that no unique value for pile capacity was obtained, and that the spectrum of capacity values depends on the probability of occurrence of the corresponding event.

AB - The paper presents the determination of the elements of the pile stiffness matrix based on pile load test results, made for the needs of modernization of oil refinery for NIS in Pancevo. The tests were carried out on CFA and Franki piles system. However, only the results for CFA piles are shown in this paper. Load tests included axial, tension and horizontal loading. Bearing in mind the geomechanical composition of the terrain and the results of penetration testing (CPT), it has been concluded that the soil resistance can be approximated as a linear function by depth. By approximating the soil by the Winkler model and using the results of the horizontal pile load test, the equivalent gradient of the modulus of soil reaction for the work load level is determined analytically, and then, the pile flexibility coefficients for horizontal load. For vertical load, the coefficient of flexibility is determined directly on the basis of the load-settlement curve. Based on the flexibility coefficient, a matrix of flexibility and a stiffness matrix are determined. The effect of the pile interaction for horizontal and vertical loads was introduced in an approximate way, through the reduction of coefficients of the stiffness matrix. The entire process of determining the stiffness matrix of the pile is illustrated by practical example of a pile group connected by an ideal rigid cap.

AB - The paper presents typical examples of pile integrity testing and the results analysis, whereby the testing methodology relies on existing ASTM standards, as well as on the testing methodology presented in the scientific paper Pile Integrity and Load Testing: Methodology and Classification, published in this journal. The pile tests were conducted using licensed equipment for Sonic Integrity Test (SIT) and Crosshole Sonic Logging (CSL). The tests have shown the correct and problematic situations that arise when analyzing pile integrity. Some aspects of the wave theory implementation, but also of signal processing and numerical analysis have been indicated. Also, the need to develop a plan for testing the integrity of piles in structures with a large number of piles has been emphasized.

AB - The paper presents the methodology and classification of pile integrity and load testing, in compliance with current foreign standards, as well as our own defined segments of standard improvement and our own definitions of certain key elements. The classification has been conducted according to the test types which clearly define the pile testing process, analysis methods, and test results processing. Beside the basic division of pile testing to integrity tests and load tests, there is also an additionally defined group of shaft control tests in the case of bored piles, since for the proper shaft formation, when it comes to bored piles, certain qualitative-quantitative criteria must be fulfilled beforehand. Presented in this way, the methodology and classification of pile integrity and load tests serves, primarily, an educational purpose for civil and geotechnics engineers who deal with this issue, to additionally introduce innovations in this field of testing and clarify all the elements of the testing since contradictory opinions and disagreements regarding the testing details are quite common in practice.

Ovako prikazane metodologija i klasifikacija ispitivanja integriteta i nosivosti šipova prvenstveno služe za edukativne svrhe inženjera građevine i geotehnike koji se bave ovom problematikom, da dodatno donese novine na ovom polju ispitivanja i da dodatno pojasne sve elemente ispitivanja, budući da se u praksi vrlo često susreću protivrečna mišljenja i nesuglasice oko detalja ispitivanja., The paper presents the methodology and classification of pile integrity and load testing, in compliance with current foreign standards, as well as our own defined segments of standard improvement and our own definitions of certain key elements. Presented in this way, the methodology and classification of pile integrity and load tests serves, primarily, an educational purpose for civil and geotechnics engineers who deal with this issue, to additionally introduce innovations in this field of testing and clarify all the elements of the testing since contradictory opinions and disagreements regarding the testing details are quite common in practice.",

AB - The paper presents and analyzes the results of testing the properties of cement stabilized mixtures of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) and crushed stone aggregate (CSA). Tests were carried out on reclaimed asphalt pavement and crushed stone aggregate mixtures with varying RAP content (0%, 20%, 40%, 60% and 80%), as well as with a varying addition of cement (3%, 5% and 7%). The purpose of these tests was to determine the optimal proportion of recycled asphalt pavement in a mixture with crushed stone aggregate, and the optimal addition of cement as a hydraulic binder. Furthermore, the aim was to determine physical-mechanical parameters: the indirect tensile strength (R-t) and the dynamic modulus of elasticity (E), which are applied in pavement design during the process of cold recycling. On the basis of the obtained values, categorization of the stabilized mixture was carried out according to the standard EN 14227-10: 2006, which continues to be applied in the design of pavements. The maximum proportion of recycled asphalt in the stabilized mixture was determined as being up to 60%; the stabilized mixture was categorized into the "T1" and "T2" categories - gravelly soils.

Metode proračuna stabilnosti klizišta klasifikovane su u pet grupa: analitičke jednokoračne, analitičke višekoračne (iteracije kliznih površi), numeričke višekoračne (iteracije kliznih površi), numeričke inkrementalno-iterativne (nelinearne) analize i numeričke inkrementalno-iterativne (nelinearne) analize, uz primenu numeričke integracije u vremenskom domenu.
AB - According to the analysis of a large number of scientific papers, the authors of the paper presented their own original systematization of the analytical and numerical methods of landslide stability calculation, with a large part of them still to be further improved, implemented and tested on complex 3D landslide models. Methods for calculating the stability of the landslide are classified into five groups: analytical single-step, analytical multi-step (iterations of sliding surfaces), numerical multi-step (iterations of sliding surfaces), numerical incremental-iterative (nonlinear) analysis and numerical incremental-iterative (nonlinear) analysis, applying numerical integration in the time domain. By using the systematization method of calculating the stability of the landslide it can be very effective to consider which type of method is optimal for landslide analysis and which type of method should be considered in the phase of preliminary and final analysis for scientific research and expert projects.

Tailings test results showed no pozzolanic activity and that its application in concrete can be only a partial replacement of aggregate. This paper presents the possibility of using tailings in self-compacting concrete made with Portland cement and sulphate resistant cement. Concrete specimens in which the aggregate fraction 0/4 mm was replaced with 10 and 20 % of tailings were examined. The resistance to freezing and thawing with and without de-icing salts is used as an indicator of concrete durability.

AB - Modern geotechnical engineering is based on a multidisciplinary approach to solving complex
geotechnical problems through engineering-geological soil testing, laboratory analyses of physical
and mechanical soil properties, developing constitutive models of soil behaviour, in-situ testing of
geotechnical structures, experimental-laboratory testing of geotechnical structures and developing
of analytical-numerical models for the analysis of geotechnical structures. In addition to structures
formed only from the soil, geotechnical structures also include geotechnical injections, combination
of soil and reinforced concrete (RC) elements, primary RC structures in the soil, structures from
geotextiles/geogrids/geocells and the like. In the group of geotechnical structures, where the
primary role is played by the RC structure in the soil, a specific place is taken by the issue of
analyzing the capacity and integrity of piles. There are a large number of analytical and numerical
methods developed for the purpose of determining the capacity and integrity of piles, as well as a
large number of in-situ tests of real piles constructed in the ground. Also, a series of alternatives
were developed for solving problems in the everyday engineering practice and scientific research.
Despite of this, there are a number of unresolved issues in determining the capacity and integrity of
piles, especially in case of piles in existing structures. This raises a number of questions, such as:
what method, when and for what type of piles should be used? Answers to these questions can be
found in a variety of publications, but there are a considerable number of questions to be answered in order to enhance the practice and scientific knowledge in terms of analyzing the capacity and integrity of piles, and develop new sophisticated and reliable solutions. This paper provides a summary of pile capacity and integrity tests for quick and reliable assessment and the choice of the type of test in different situations. The paper analyzes the most commonly used tests in practice, as well as tests of new generation which have been increasingly used and may replace some proven reliable tests.

AB - A probabilistic concept for determining pile bearing capacity is presented, taking into account the variability of CPT test parameters and methodology of calculation according to the requirements of Eurocode 7 (EN 1997-1: 2004). Based on a single initial (real) CPT test, a larger number of generated (simulation) CPT tests are introduced drawn from solutions of statistics and probability theory. Research has found that the best solutions are achieved using the DA 2 design approach for n(CPT) > 10 tests. Taking into account the deterministic and probabilistic approach in the analysis of pile bearing capacity, it is found that for the DA 2 design approach, the ratio of pile bearing capacity obtained from simulation and the capacity as determined through three methods (Mazurkiewicz, Van der Veen and hyperbolic approximation) is Rcd, /Pu = 1.148. Using the reliability index, the following values of partial resistance factors are obtained: λ, s /P 1.1, λ, b /P 1.1, which also points to the DA 2 design approach.

abstract = "A probabilistic concept for determining pile bearing capacity is presented, taking into account the variability of CPT test parameters and methodology of calculation according to the requirements of Eurocode 7 (EN 1997-1: 2004). Using the reliability index, the following values of partial resistance factors are obtained: λ, s /P 1.1, λ, b /P 1.1, which also points to the DA 2 design approach.",

AB - The tunnel Progon is being constructed as a part of Corridor 10 highway project about 5 km north from the border crossing with Bulgaria in southern Serbia. During the design process 2D finite element analysis was utilized with the objective to investigate an influence of different support systems on the convergence across an excavation. Two models were used in calculations. The first model is elastic perfectly-plastic with constant stiffness independent of the stress level. The second model assumes hyperbolic relationship between the deviatoric stress and axial strain and stress dependent stiffness. This model also accounts for small strain stiffness of soil. In order to allow for a certain convergence across an excavation the load reduction method was utilized. Convergence monitoring is currently ongoing for the excavated portion of approx. 700 m of the tunnel exit portal. The measurements show cumulative displacements in the range of 1-3 cm. Results obtained by the analyses prior to the tunnel construction are in good agreement with the measurements. Convergence is approx. 5 cm when MC model is used and around 1 cm in the case of HS-small model, thus limiting the measurement results from the lower and upper bound.

AB - Testing the influence of two aggressive solutions - sulphate and nitrate on mortar and concrete was presented in this paper. Experimental work included testing of mortar prisms with 5 % special admixture. Also, four types of concrete were exposed to aggressive solutions. The chemical resistance was tested according to the Koch-Steinegger method. As a condition for resistance in aggressive solution means that flexural strength of mortar prisms is no less than 70 % of referent prisms cured in water it can be concluded that mortar and concrete made with combination of cement and admixture presented in this investigation are not resistant to ammonium nitrate solution, but are resistant to sulphate corrosion.

AB - Structural collapse and sudden volume changes represent a major geotechnical issue, particularly in loess soils. There are different criteria for assessing collapse potential based on laboratory test results, which require the collection of undisturbed samples from test pits. This can be a complicated and costly procedure, often financially unjustified for smaller projects. This paper presents the results of seismic dilatometer tests (SDMT) performed at a single location in a loess soil in Belgrade, in addition to the results of single oedometer collapse tests performed on high quality samples from test pits. After comparing laboratory test results it was possible to determine that in samples collected from boreholes, dry unit weight is approximately 20% higher than in block samples taken from test pits, while moisture content is between 1 and 4% higher. Unit weight estimated from DMT is on average 15% higher than the unit weight obtained from block samples. The constrained modulus (M-DMT) determined by DMT are highly compatible with oedometer modulus (E-oed) obtained from samples at natural moisture content. This paper presents two possible ways of identifying collapsing loess based on intermediate DMT parameters and the ratio of G(0)/M-DMT. The tests results indicate that if the ratio between the material index (I-D) and the horizontal stress index (K-D) is greater than 5, the danger of collapse is imminent. Simultaneous observation of the changes of I-D and K-D with depth on a semi-log graph in the same scale is recommended. In this way the relative distance between them may be clearly noticed; the larger the distance becomes, the greater the risk of collapse. In the collapsing loess ratio G(0)/M-DMT is found to be higher than 21 for K-D less than 0.6, while in non-collapsing loess G(0)/M-DMT is less than 21 for higher values of K-D. In terms of DMT, loess is considered as underconsolidated soil, which is one of the most common "definitions" of loess.
