AB  - Ponašanje struktura pod delovanjem različitih vrsta opterećenja
određene su njenim deformacionim karakteristikama,
globalnim deformacionim karakteristikama – pomeranjima
i rotacijama i lokalnim deformacionim karakteristikama
- dilatacijama u materijalu strukture. Poznavanjem
globalnih i lokalnih deformacionih karakteristika strukture
ostvarujemo mogućnost da pratimo ponašanje strukture u
celini ili nekog njenog segmenta. Osnovni cilj ovog istraživanja
je provera algoritma proračuna za dobijanje vertikalnih
pomeranja - ugiba strukture, na osnovu poznatih vrednosti
dilatacija u materijalu strukture, pri delovanju opterećenja.
Provera algoritma sprovodi se poređenjem numeričkih i eksperimentalnih rezultata.

AB  - Betonske konstrukcije su često u eksploataciji izložene spoljašnjim uticajima. Preporuke koje definiše evropski stan-dard SRPS EN 206 za korišćenje betona u pojedinim klasa-ma izloženosti nisu dovoljne i iz tog razloga je usvojen i standard SRPS U.M1.206 koji predstavlja nacionalni doda-tak za njegovu primenu. Dejstvo mraza značajno utiče na trajnost betonske konstrukcije jer može da dovede do raza-ranja strukture betona. Zaštita se postiže dodavanjem hemij-skih dodataka koji uvlače vazduh u svež beton. U radu je prikazana mogućnost primene novog dodatka Sika Aer Solid. Ispitivana je otpornost betona na dejstvo mraza, mraza u prisustvu soli za odmrzavanje, prodiranje vode pod pritiskom i koeficijent migracije hlorida u laboratorijskim uslovima i uzorcima izvađenim iz betonskih prefabrikovanih elemenata. Betoni sa Sika Aer Solid su za istu klasu konzistencije u odnosu na aerirane betone imali bolja svojstva i u svežem i u očvrslom stanju.

Verification and validation of an advanced guardedhot plate for determination of thermal conductivity

AB  - The Guarded hot plate method (GHP) is a widely used technique to measure thermal conductivity of thermal insulation specimens in steady-state conditions. In this paper, an advance of GHP has been developed in the Laboratory for Thermal technique and fire protection in Institute IMS. The innovative GHP has been applied for measuring thermal conductivity using additional heat flux meters. The design of this GHP is similar to the design of the plate for GHP apparatus; however, it has different design: smaller width of thermal barrier, which is filled with insulation glue. Heaters inside hot and guard plates are built from wire for thermocouples, which is a unique type of heater. Geometry of heater has been optimized inside plates to achieve uniform temperature distribution along the specimen surface. Temperature uniformity of guarded hot plate and energy balance were experimentally determined. The verification and validation results of improved GHP have been shown. The test method was validated comparing test results of thermal conductivity with results of the round-robin test. Four national companies participated in the round-robin comparison on thermal conductivity measurement by guarded hot plate method. The measurement was performed on the same specimen of thermal insulation material (expanded polystyrene) according to SRPS EN 12667 at temperatures ranging between 10℃-40℃. The measured thermal conductivity of all participants in the round-robin test was input data for statistical processing according to SRPS ISO 5725-2 and ISO 13528. To evaluate the performance of the participants, the “z” score has been used. Measurements were conducted successively for all participants. Since 2020, the Accreditation Body of Serbia also approved this test method.

Physical-Mechanical Properties of Cement Stabilized RAP/Crushed Stone Aggregate Mixtures

AB  - The paper presents and analyzes the results of testing the properties of cement stabilized mixtures of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) and crushed stone aggregate (CSA). Tests were carried out on reclaimed asphalt pavement and crushed stone aggregate mixtures with varying RAP content (0%, 20%, 40%, 60% and 80%), as well as with a varying addition of cement (3%, 5% and 7%). The purpose of these tests was to determine the optimal proportion of recycled asphalt pavement in a mixture with crushed stone aggregate, and the optimal addition of cement as a hydraulic binder. Furthermore, the aim was to determine physical-mechanical parameters: the indirect tensile strength (R-t) and the dynamic modulus of elasticity (E), which are applied in pavement design during the process of cold recycling. On the basis of the obtained values, categorization of the stabilized mixture was carried out according to the standard EN 14227-10: 2006, which continues to be applied in the design of pavements. The maximum proportion of recycled asphalt in the stabilized mixture was determined as being up to 60%; the stabilized mixture was categorized into the "T1" and "T2" categories - gravelly soils.

Influence of nanoparticles on the strength of ultra-high performance concrete

AB  - Ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) is a modern composite material with extremely good mechanical characteristics. The application of nanoparticles in concrete is one of the possibilities for improving its properties. Nanoparticles such as nano-SiO2 (NS), nano-Al2O3 (NA), nano-TiO2 (NT), nano-Fe2O3 (NF), nano-ZnO2, nanoclay (NC), carbon nanotubes (CNT), and carbon nanofibers (CNF) can be used in cementitious materials. Nanomaterial in UHPC accelerates the hydration of cement, densifies the microstructure, improves strength, and thus contributes to its durability. Component materials and curing regimes significantly affect the properties of UHPC. For this reason, the influence of various supplementary cementitious materials such as metakaolin and fine ground fly ash and curing regimes (water, steam, and autoclave curing) on the properties of UHPC has been analyzed. The influence of nanosilica as the most frequently applied nanomaterial and the curing regimes on the strength of UHPC is studied. Nanomaterial dispersion and distribution have significant influence on the properties of cement-based materials. Techniques for better homogenization of nanoparticles are listed.

Possibility of using bottom ash in precast concrete products

AB  - Chemical, physical and mechanical properties of bottom ash from two thermal power plants were analysed in order to evaluate the quality of bottom ash and to determine the possibility of its use in composite materials. It was found that the bottom ash samples from both power plants show good properties enabling their practical use, and that they also meet most of the criteria specified for fly ash. Samples in which 4, 8, 12 and 16% of fine aggregate was replaced with bottom ash were tested. The results meet criteria of applicable regulations for concrete, which justifies the use of bottom ash in construction industry.

AB  - Čvrstoća pri pritisku jeste svojstvo koje je veoma značajno u građevinarstvu, te postoji izražena potreba da se razviju metode za praćenje prirasta čvrstoće pri pritisku betona u konstrukciji. Prema zakonskim propisima Republike Srbije, procena čvrstoće pri pritisku betona u konstrukciji radi se na osnovu rezultata dobijenih tokom laboratorijskih ispitivanja u konstantnim uslovima. U radu se koriste rezultati dobijeni u laboratoriji i porede se rezultati dobijeni pomoću metode za merenje zrelosti betona, koje se baziraju na korelaciji između čvrstoće betona, starosti betona i temperaturnih uslova i rezultata dobijenih pomoću ConReg 706 uređaja, koji takođe uzima u obzir temperaturu van betona. Primenjena su dva pristupa za određivanje zrelosti betona - Nurse & Saul i Arrhenius. Za potrebe ovog istaživanja, pripremljene su dve različite betonske mešavine - MB 35 i MB 40, obe klase C30/37. Odabrani konstrukcijski elementi betonirani su tokom leta, na mostu preko reke Save, kod Ostružnice, u blizini Beograda. Testirani elementi mosta jesu kolovozna ploča, naglavna greda i ležišna greda. Ispitivanje je pokazalo da temperatura koja se razvija u masivnim delovima konstrukcije znatno utiče na čvrstoću betona, pored već dobro poznatih faktora, kao što su vodo-cementni odnos, tip i kvalitet komponentnih materijala i drugi.
AB  - Compressive strength is a property of significant importance for civil engineering; consequently, there have been strong need for developing method, which will estimate rise of concrete compressive strength in construction. According to Serbian legislation, assessment of compressive strength in construction relies on laboratory results obtained under constant conditions. This paper presents and compares results obtained in laboratory, results obtained by maturity method, which is based on correlation between concrete compressive strength, concrete age and ambient temperature, and the results obtained by ConReg 706 instrument, which also takes in consideration external environment and concrete temperature. AB  - In order to examine the differences in chemical composition and the possibility of using mine tailings in mortar and concrete production, samples were taken from the landfill and directly from the production. Tailings test results showed no pozzolanic activity and that its application in concrete can be only a partial replacement of aggregate. This paper presents the possibility of using tailings in self-compacting concrete made with Portland cement and sulphate resistant cement. Concrete specimens in which the aggregate fraction 0/4 mm was replaced with 10 and 20 % of tailings were examined. The resistance to freezing and thawing with and without de-icing salts is used as an indicator of concrete durability.

AB  - Prednaprezanjem konstruktivnih elemenata omogućava se povećavanje raspona armiranobetonskih konstrukcija. Pri projektovanju i dimenzionisanju prednapregnutih armiranobetonskih konstrukcija, neophodno je poznavanje, odnosno usvajanje većeg broja parametara koji su empirijski određeni. Za prednapregnute konstrukcije od osnovnog je značaja da se odredi nivo sile naprezanja kablova. Nivo sile prednaprezanja, pored drugih parametara, umnogome zavisi od koeficijenta trenja kablova i koeficijenta imperfekcije izvođenja. Ovi koeficijenti definisani su standardima za projektovanje ili su ih definisali proizvođači sistema prednaprezanja. Koeficijenti su definisani u širokim opsezima, dok je za projektovanje neophodno poznavanje što tačnijih vrednosti, kako bi se dobio dobar projekat i jeftinija konstrukcija. Putem eksperimentalnog rada in-situ, određen je opseg vrednosti koeficijenta trenja kablova i upoređen je sa standardom definisanim opsezima.
AB  - Prestressing structural elements allows an increase in the spans of reinforced concrete structures. In the design and dimensioning of prestressed reinforced concrete structures it is necessary to know, that is to adopt a number of parameters which are empirically determined. Determining the level of the tension force of the cables is of primary importance for prestressed structures. The level of tensioning force, in addition to other parameters, greatly depends on the friction coefficient of cables and the imperfection coefficient of execution. These coefficients are defined by standards for the design or by the manufacturer of the prestressing system. The coefficients are defined in wide ranges, while for the design, the knowledge of the most accurate values is necessary in order to obtain a good design and cheaper structures. Through experimental work in-situ the range of the values of the coefficient of friction of cables is determined and compared with ranges defined by the standard.

Durability of concrete with different types of cement

AB  - Adequate measures must be taken during the determination of the concrete composition for ensuring the durability of concrete exposed to an aggressive environment. The influence of the cement type on the freeze/thaw resistance with and without de-icing salt of concrete was tested. Samples were made using five types of cement. All types of concrete made according to the recommendations of the Serbian and European norms had the required frost resistance. Besides the respected recommendations, concrete made using cement with 35% mineral additions of fly ash and lime was not freeze/thaw resistant with de-icing salt. Weathering resistance for paving units is determined according to EN 1338 and EN 1339 for freeze/thaw resistance with de-icing salt or water absorption. Taking into account previous investigations, only samples which were made in accordance with the recommendations of the Serbian Building code requirements for concrete and reinforced concrete - BAB 87 and European norms EN 206-1 were tested. Regarding water absorption, it is expected that in the case of established production all types of concrete would be integrated into class 2 according to EN. Also, for two representative types of concrete with different air content and degree of damage done by destructive test, non-destructive test by device RapidAir 457 was done (specific surface, spacing factor, void frequency and average chord length).

AB  - The development of building materials with improved characteristics and their application for increasing structure durability and sustainability is one of the goals in construction sector. The main objective of this paper is to evaluate the influence of nano-silica replacement of cement (2% or 5%) and aggregate type (quartz, barite or its combination 50:50 by volume) on the properties of ultra high performance concrete (UHPC). UHPC with nano-silica and combination of barite and quartz aggregate is composite which has finer pore-size distribution, improvement in compressive and flexural strength and in radiation protection characteristics, with potential usage as building material for hospitals and nuclear facilities.

Investigation of the mortar and concrete resistance in aggressive solutions

AB  - Testing the influence of two aggressive solutions - sulphate and nitrate on mortar and concrete was presented in this paper. Experimental work included testing of mortar prisms with 5 % special admixture. Also, four types of concrete were exposed to aggressive solutions. The chemical resistance was tested according to the Koch-Steinegger method. As a condition for resistance in aggressive solution means that flexural strength of mortar prisms is no less than 70 % of referent prisms cured in water it can be concluded that mortar and concrete made with combination of cement and admixture presented in this investigation are not resistant to ammonium nitrate solution, but are resistant to sulphate corrosion.

AB  - Cementni materijali u poljoprivrednim i drugim industrijskim objektima izloženi su dejstvu kiselina. Zbog toga vek konstrukcija zavisi od trajnosti maltera ili betonskih elemenata u agresivnoj sredini. U radu je predstavljena otpornost na koroziju koja je uzrokovana sulfatnom, nitratnom, ureom, mlečnom i sirćetnom kiselinom. Skenirajuća elektronska mikroskopija (SEM) korišćena je da se ispita efekat agresivnih rastvora na mikrostrukturu i mehaničke osobine maltera. Hemijska otpornost prizmi od maltera i dve vrste betona testirana je prema metodi Koch-Steinegger. Kako je uslov za otpornost na agresivne rastvore taj da zatezna čvrstoća maltera nije manja od 70% u odnosu na referentne prizme negovane u vodi, može se zaključiti da su malter i beton, napravljeni sa CEM III/B, u ovom istraživanju otporni na sve kiseline kojima su tretirani. .
AB  - Cement based materials in the agricultural and other industrial structures are exposed to acid attack. That is the reason why the service life of structure depends on the durability of mortar or concrete elements in aggressive environment. Resistance to corrosion caused by sulphate, nitrate, carbamide, lactic acid and acetic acid was presented. Optical and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to examine the effect of aggressive solutions on the microstructure and mechanical properties of mortar. The chemical resistance of mortar prisms and two types of concrete were tested according to the Koch-Steinegger method. As the condition for resistance in aggressive solution is that flexural strength of mortar prisms is no less than 70 % compared to referent prisms cured in water it can be concluded that mortar and concrete made with CEM III/B in this investigation are resistant to all treated acids.

Concrete paving blocks and flags made with crushed brick as aggregate

AB  - Demolition of old buildings in urban cores has produced a large amount of waste material. Since they are mostly masonry structures the largest part of the waste material is ceramic waste. Besides that, ceramic waste is obtained as a byproduct in the ceramic industry. All of this initiated a research for the application of concrete with recycled brick as aggregate. In this paper, the possibility of using crushed bricks in the production of concrete elements for the pedestrian zone is shown. The application of recycled brick as aggregate, produces concrete of less density and strength, and of increased absorption. All of this also has an effect on the quality of concrete flags and paving blocks. Based on the results obtained by testing the resistance to frost of concrete it was assumed that it is possible to get the products comply with European standards. The results show that replacing up to a 32.5% of natural aggregate with crushed brick aggregate produces concrete blocks, and up to 65% of it produces concrete paving flags which meet the requirements of European standards.

AB  - Mnogi parametri utiču na karakteristike svežeg i očvrslog betona. Jedan od najvažnijih svakako jeste poroznost betona. Poroznost svežeg betona meri se količinom uvučenog vazduha. Uticaj uvučenog vazduha na beton i njegovu pritisnu čvrstoću istraživali su mnogi svetski istraživači. Na bazi tih istraživanja, izdvojene su dve, u praksi najviše korišćene, formule. Tehnike mekog programiranja, a posebno neuronske mreže, s formiranim bazama podataka laboratorijskih ispitivanja betona, otvaraju novi pristup u predviđanju uticaja količine uvučenog vazduha u svežem betonu na njegovu čvrstoću pri pritisku.
AB  - Many parameters influence on the characteristics of fresh and hardened concrete. One of the most important characteristic of concrete is its porosity. Measure the porosity of fresh concrete is measured by the amount of entrained air. The effect of entrained air in concrete on compressive strength investigated by many authors. On the bases these works we have two formulas applicable in practice. Soft programming techniques especialy neural networks and the formation of databases related to the testing in laboratories for concrete opened up new approaches in predicting the impact of the quantity of entrained air in concrete on compressive strength.

AB  - Radiation sensing MOSFETs have found numerous applications as detectors or device components in radiation fields used in nuclear industry, medical applications and space research. Monte Carlo simulations of MOSFET energy response to X-ray and gamma radiation for different packaging were performed. The photon transport Monte Carlo software FOTELP-2K10 has been adapted to obtain the energy deposited in MOSFET structure with microscopic dimensions. In this work the ratio between values of total energy deposited in the sensitive volume (thick SiO2 layer) for cases of MOSFET structure with and without package lid is presented. For this purpose is defined the shielding energy dependence factor (SDEF), and gave its value for kovar and Ti-24Al-11Nb and Ti-13Nb-13Zr alloys as lid materials.

AB  - Na osnovu principa koji su proizišli iz Kempbelove teoreme, u ovom radu je urađena analiza nekih mogućnosti Kempbelovog MSV sistema za obradu signala. MSV mod je posebno pogodan za merenja koja se sprovode u mešovitom polju zračenja, kada su značajno različite količine naelektrisanja u detektoru koja potiču iz interakcija dva tipa zračenja. Merni detektorski element za mešovita n-γ polja mogao bi da bude odgovarajuća jonizaciona komora ili poluprovodnička komponenta. Sprovedeno je ispitivanje diskriminacije gama komponente u odnosu na neutronsku komponentu izlaznog signala iz detektora, pri čemu su urađeni proračuni u skladu sa teorijskim modelom interakcije zračenja sa detektorom. Potvrđena je prednost MSV metode i zaključeno je da je stepen n-γ diskriminacije prilikom MSV obrade signala veća nego kod klasične metode merenja.
AB  - Based on the principles derived from Campbell's theorem, this paper carries out an analysis of the possibilities of Campbell's mean square value signal processing system. The mean square value mode is especially suitable for measurements performed in a mixed radiation field, because the quantities of electrical charge involved in the interactions of the two types of radiation are substantially different. The measuring detector element may be an adequate ionization chamber and/or semiconductor components for mixed n-γ fields. An examination of the discrimination of gamma in relation to the neutron component in the signal of the detector output was carried out, calculated according to the theoretical model of radiation interaction with the detector. The advantage of the mean square value method was confirmed and it was concluded that the order of n-γ discrimination in mean square value signal processing is greater than the one rendered by the classical measuring method.

Mix design and engineering properties of ultra high performance self compacting concrete

AB  - The mechanical properties (compressive strength and flexural strength) were investigated under different curing conditions (standard and steam curing). Silica fumes have characteristics that make them necessary in cement composites with ultra strength properties. The search for substitute products thus appears important if the use of ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) is to become more widespread in the concrete industry. Possibilities of getting ultra high performance self compacting concrete (UHPSCC) with materials available in Serbia, based on experimental work are discussed in this paper. Four series of samples were made with different types of fine reactive additives (silica fume in referent concrete was replaced with metakaolin at 20% and 40% and with fine fly ash at 20%.). The produced mixes had self compacted consistency. The compressive strength varied between 145 and 180 MPa for the steam cered specimens and between 180 and 205 MPa for the ones that had not been heat treated. Furthermore, this paper presents SEM micrographs of C-S-H phase formed after steam curing and autoclaving.

Determination of recycled aggregate concrete degradation by resonance frequency analysis

AB  - The evaluation of the dynamic modulus of elasticity of twelve different concrete mix proportions as a function of the density and degradations due to freeze/thaw cycles is presented in this paper. Pore system and saturation are the main factors for concrete freeze-thaw resistance. The frequency analysis of ultrasonic waves in concrete after every 25 cycles was done. Dynamic modulus of elasticity was determination by resonance frequency analysis. This parameter is 35-50% smaller for concrete with recycled bricks as aggregate than ordinary concrete. For all concrete mixes dynamic and static (measured by destructive testing) modules of elasticity were compared.

Concrete mix design for reconstruction of northwest breakwater in the Tripoli harbour - Libya

AB  - Reconstruction of Northwest breakwater in the Tripoli Harbour - Libya (about 4500 m long) required manufacture of various concrete elements (cubes and accropodes) in total amount of 550 000 m(3). Volumes of cubes were 6,3 m(3), 8,5 m(3) and 12,7 m(3), volumes of accropodes were 6,3 m(3) and 9,0 m(3). After preliminary trials and trial production, an optimum mix proportion was chosen, in compliance with technical specification requirements. One of the main causes for concrete blocks cracking is the temperature difference between core and external surface of the blocks, so new blocks with new mix proportions were made (three variations in cement content). Temperature was measured at three characteristic points: in the middle of the cube, in the middle of vertical outer surface and in the middle of horizontal upper edge. Finally, optimal proportions of the constituent materials were adopted.

AB  - Procena čvrstoće pri pritisku se postavlja kao važan zadatak proizvođačima betona, naročito pri projektovanju betonskih mešavina i obezbeđenju zahtevanog kvaliteta proizvedenog betona. U radu je prikazano poređenje eksperimentalnih rezultata čvrstoće pri pritisku betona sa prirodnim i recikliranim agregatom sa rezultatima dobijenim na osnovu jednačina prikazanih u tehničkoj regulativi. Prikazan je koeficijent determinacije eksperimentalnih podataka i rezultata dobijenih na osnovu preračuna prema jednačinama datim u EN 1992-1-1, ACI 209 i tabeli za preračun datoj u SRPS U.M1.048. Prikaz zavisnosti čvrstoće pri pritisku betona na osnovu jednačina datih u radu se odnosi na određivanje zavisnosti u odnosu na vrstu upotrebljenog cementa i starosti betona negovanog na konstantnoj temperaturi.
AB  - Estimation of concrete strength is an important issue in ready-mixed concrete industry, especially, in proportioning new mixtures and for the quality assurance of the concrete produced. In this article, on the basis of the existing experimental data of compressive strength of normal and recycled aggregate concrete and equation for compressive strength calculating given in Technical regulation are compared. The accuracies of prediction by experimental data obtained in laboratory as well as by EN 1992-1-1, ACI 209 and SRPS U.M1.048 are compared on the basis of the coefficient of determination. Prikazan je koeficijent determinacije eksperimentalnih podataka i rezultata dobijenih na osnovu preračuna prema jednačinama datim u EN 1992-1-1, ACI 209 i tabeli za preračun datoj u SRPS U.M1.048. Prikaz zavisnosti čvrstoće pri pritisku betona na osnovu jednačina datih u radu se odnosi na određivanje zavisnosti u odnosu na vrstu upotrebljenog cementa i starosti betona negovanog na konstantnoj temperaturi., Estimation of concrete strength is an important issue in ready-mixed concrete industry, especially, in proportioning new mixtures and for the quality assurance of the concrete produced. In this article, on the basis of the existing experimental data of compressive strength of normal and recycled aggregate concrete and equation for compressive strength calculating given in Technical regulation are compared. The accuracies of prediction by experimental data obtained in laboratory as well as by EN 1992-1-1, ACI 209 and SRPS U.M1.048 are compared on the basis of the coefficient of determination. AB  - This work presents a characterization of radiation absorption properties of silicon carbide (SiC) as semiconductor for the realization of detectors for X-rays. SiC detectors can potentially reach superior performance with respect to all the other semiconductors presently employed in hazardous environments in nuclear and space science and technology. Physics and numerical modeling of photons transport through SiC detector is incorporated in non-destructive Monte Carlo method for determining the energy deposited and dose distribution. The Monte Carlo code has been adopted for numerical simulations for different detector conditions and configurations. The X-ray characterization of new SiC structures originates the improving of design of these detector systems.
