Application of neural networks in determination of compressive strength of concrete

AB  - This paper presents the optimization of concrete mixtures composition related to a physical property and the process of production of trial mix design by using the multi-layered feed-forward neural networks. This optimization was conducted because there is no clear method of designing concrete mixture composition and for the purpose of shortening procedure of the trial mix design of concrete. Mix design depend on many variables and deterministic models cannot give good results. The goal of the research was to make a model of a neural network, on the set of available data from 288 trial mix, which would, with highest accuracy, predict the compressive strength of concrete at the age of 28 days. In order to attain as high accuracy of obtained results as possible, three levels of input data to the neural networks were considered. On each of the applied groups of input data, the neural networks with 1 and 2 hidden layers were formed. On the basis of the adopted neural network, an algorithm for usage of the network in actual situations was made, applied on an actual model.

Karakteristike portland cementa sa dodatkom metakaolina dobijenog kalcinacijom domaće kaolinske gline

AB  - U Institutu za ispitivanje materijala IMS-Beograd razvijena je tehnologija za dobijanje pucolanskog dodatka - metakaolina iz domaće kaolinske gline Vrbica. Verifikacija pucolanskog ponašanja proizvedenog metakaolina izvršena je određivanjem karakteristika portland cementa sa dodatkom 5 - 20 % metakaolina i upoređenjem sa karakteristikama portland cementa. Upoređenjem karakteristika portland cementa (CEM I) i cementa sa dodatkom metakaolina (CEM II) utvrđeno je da se dodatkom metakaolina skraćuje vreme vezivanja (početak i kraj) i postižu niže vrednosti čvrstoća pri pritisku nakon 2 dana. Nezavisno od udela metakaolina, čvrstoća pri pritisku nakon 7 i 28 dana je veća od čvrstoća portland cementa. Utvrđeno je da se pri dodatku 10 i 15 % metakaolina cementu, čvrstoća pri pritisku povećava približno 15 %.
AB  - The technology for obtaining pozzolanic additive - metakaolin, from domestic kaolin clay Vrbica, is developed in the Institute for testing of materials IMS-Belgrade. Pozzolanic behavior of the produced metakaolin is verified by determining the characteristics of Portland cement made with addition of 5 to 20 % by mass metakaolin. The characteristics of Portland cement made with addition of metakaolin (CEM II) were compared with Portland cement (CEM I), which was used as a control sample. The composite cements have lower setting time (initial and final) as well as compressive strengths after 2 days. Compressive strengths after 7 and 28 days are greater than compressive strengths obtained for the control cement, independently on the metakaolin content. The addition of 10 and 15 % by mass metakaolin increases compressive strengths for approximately 15 %.

AB  - U radu su dati rezultati istraživanja uticaja količine i vrste aditiva na svojstva reparaturnih maltera, koji služe za sanaciju oštećenja. Opseg oštećenja armirano betonskih konstrukcija je veoma veliki, ali se može podeliti u dve kategorije: problemi trajnosti i konstrukcijska oštećenja. Ono što prvo treba uraditi jeste utvrditi uzrok oštećenja, pa tek se onda upustiti u analizu i izbor metode saniranja njegovog simptoma. Pravilno projektovana sanacija i precizni tehnički uslovi:a njenu realizaciju mogu se obezbediti samo ako je uspostavljena tačna dijagnoza i ako se problem rešava eliminisanjem uzroka nastalih oštećenja.
AB  - In this paper are presented results of the investigation of influence of quantity and type of additive on the characteristics of reparation mortars. Number of damages of concrete structures is huge, and damages are, also various but, generally, they can be divided in two categories: problems of durability and damages of the constructions. First thing that should be done is discovering the source of damage and then follows the analysis and finally that choice of the method of sanation.
