AB  - Causes of damage occurrence in vital components of welded structures of the bucket-wheel
excavator boom (DU1) at the coal landfill of the thermal power plant 'Nikola Tesla A' in Obrenovac
(Serbia) are investigated. Bucket-wheel excavator was produced by French company 'Ameco' and it
moves along the circular track. Taking into account lack of technical documentation, all tests and
were carried out under the assumption that welded structures were made of structural steels S355 and
S235. Investigation of causes of damage occurrence are based on results of non-destructive tests
(NDT) and tensometric measurements.

AB  - Research is conducted on the causes of damage and the structural integrity assessment of the bucket-wheel boom welded lattice structures, before and after the repair of vital structures. Additionally, the paper describes the investigation conducted based on the results of non-destructive tests (visual-, magnetic particle-, dye penetrant-, and ultrasonic tests), results of tensometric measurements that refer to the stress-strain state, and results based on numerical calculation of stresses by finite element method, performed through the use of a 3D model in the software Radimpex Tower 6.0 (R). The results of tests and research performed after the repair of damaged structural welded sections show that the operational procedures are being obeyed.

repair the damage has been shown using the example of leakage and damage of a steam line for live-steam
in thermal power plants and heating plants. The access presented may be applied to similar structures, and
its application in preventive maintenance contributes to extension of the exploitation life of the steam lines.

AB  - This paper presents integrity and life estimation of turbine runner cover in a vertical pipe turbines, Kaplan 200 MW nominal output power, produced in Russia, and built in six hydro-generation units of hydroelectric power plant „Đerdap 1” in Serbia. Fatigue and corrosion-fatigue interaction have been taken into account using experimentally obtained material properties, as well as analytical and numerical calculations of stress state, to estimate appropriate safety factors. Fatigue crack growth rate, da/dN, was also calculated, indicated that internal defects of circular or elliptical shape, found out by ultrasonic testing, do not affect reliable operation of runner cover.

AB  - This paper presents results of experimental examinations of stress concentration influence to fatigue life of butt welded joints with K-groove, produced from the most frequently used structural steel S355J2+N. One group of experiments comprised examinations carried out on the K-groove specimens with stress concentrators of edged notch type. Specimens with short cracks (limited length of initial crack), defined on the basis of the experience from fracture mechanics by the three points bending examinations, have been examined according to standard for the determination of S-N curve, and aimed to determine fatigue strengths for different lengths of initial crack and Relationship between fatigue strength and crack length. Other group of experiments comprised examinations of specimens with edge notch, prepared in accordance with ASTM E 399 for three points bending, in order to establish regularity between crack growth and range of exerted stress intensity factor aimed to determine resistance of welded joint to initial crack growth, namely fatigue threshold (ΔKth).

Non - desctructive testing of pressure vessels – Application of SolidWorks

AB  - This paper presents experimental and numerical analysis of the change of temperature and force in the vertical direction during the friction stir welding of high-strength aluminium alloy 2024 T3. This procedure confirmed the correctness of the numerical model, which is subsequently used for analysis of the temperature field in the welding zone, where it is different to determine the temperature experimentally. 3D finite element model is developed using the software package Abaqus; arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian formulation is applied. Johnson-Cook material law and Coulomb's Law of friction are used for modelling the material behaviour. Temperature fields are symmetrical with respect to the welding line. The temperature values below the tool shoulder, i.e. in the welding zone, which are reached during the plunge stage, are approximately constant during the entire welding process and lie within the interval 430-502 degrees C. The temperature of the material in the vicinity of the tool is about 500 degrees C, while the values on the top surface of the welding plates (outside the welding zone, but close to the tool shoulder) are about 400 degrees C. The temperature difference between the top and bottom surface of the plates is small, 10-15 degrees C.

abstract = "This paper presents experimental and numerical analysis of the change of temperature and force in the vertical direction during the friction stir welding of high-strength aluminium alloy 2024 T3. This procedure confirmed the correctness of the numerical model, which is subsequently used for analysis of the temperature field in the welding zone, where it is different to determine the temperature experimentally. 3D finite element model is developed using the software package Abaqus; arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian formulation is applied. Johnson-Cook material law and Coulomb's Law of friction are used for modelling the material behaviour. Temperature fields are symmetrical with respect to the welding line. The temperature values below the tool shoulder, i.e. in the welding zone, which are reached during the plunge stage, are approximately constant during the entire welding process and lie within the interval 430-502 degrees C. The temperature of the material in the vicinity of the tool is about 500 degrees C, while the values on the top surface of the welding plates (outside the welding zone, but close to the tool shoulder) are about 400 degrees C. The temperature difference between the top and bottom surface of the plates is small, 10-15 degrees C.",

AB  - The effect of MIG/MAG shielding gas on the toughness of aluminium alloy AlMg4.5Mn weld metal has been analysed using the instrumented Charpy pendulum for standard toughness testing. The MIG/MAG welding was performed in the shielded atmosphere of Ar, as well as the mixtures of gases Ar + 0.0307 % O 2, Ar + 30 % He + 0.0317 %O 2 and Ar + 48 % He + 0.0290 % O 2. Metallographic tests have been performed in order to check the appearance and porosity of the weld metal, as well as its toughness testing at different temperatures (20, - 90, - 196 °C), using the instrumental Charpy pendulum, in order to separate the crack initiation and crack growth energy. In this way, a comprehensive insight of the effect of shielding gas on the weld metal toughness has been obtained.

Various mixtures of inert gases are prepared and supplied by MESSER TEHNOGAS AD, Smederevo (Serbia), including Ar, Ar + 0.015% N 2 , Ar + 15% He + 0.015% N 2 , Ar + 30% He + 0.015% N 2 , Ar + 50% He + 0.015% N 2 . Nondestructive testing is used to check joint defects, primarily porosity, as typical for this type of alloys. The Charpy specimens, with the notch positioned in different regions of the welded joint, are tested using instrumented pendulum to separate crack initiation and growth energy. Crack resistance is evaluated by using static (KIc) and dynamic testing (Paris law - fatigue crack growth).

AB  - In this paper microstructural and mechanical properties of high-carbon steel surface welded layer, obtained with self-shielded flux cored wire, are presented in the case of a standard rails and crossings. The testing results of tensile characteristics, hardness, toughness via instrumented Charpy pendulum, microstructural analysis and fatigue crack growth resistance of all characteristical zones are analysed in details, especially from the point of view of interaction between microstructure and properties. Obtained results indicate superior properties of repaired welded layers, due to their similarity to the new generation of bainitic steel, i.e., due to change of microstructure from original pearlitic structure to final bainitic structure. Finally, fatigue crack growth parameters have shown that deposite layer has higher resistance to the crack growth, improving overall reliability of rails and crossings.

AB  - An analysis of the influence of heterogeneity of the ferriteaustenite welded joint on its integrity has been performed. The Charpy specimens, with notch positioned in different regions of welded joint, have been tested using the instrumented pendulum to separate crack initiation and growth energy. In all cases tested (different heat input, room and low temperature, down to -60°C), weld metal had the lowest toughness, due to the presence of S ferrite, which was not the case in the heat affected zones, having surprisingly high toughness, including both crack initiation and growth energies. Finally, J-R curves have been obtained by using standard fracture mechanics testing procedure and compared with crack driving forces, obtained numerically using King's method, enabling estimation of influence of cracks on integrity of ferriteaustenite welded joints in cylindrical pressure vessel.

AB  - U radu ie analizirana primena parametara mehanike loma na procenu integriteta zavarenih
konstrukciia sa površinskom ili unutrašnjom prslinom, sa posebnim naglaskom na
određivanje sile rasta prsline Kingovim modelom. Imajuci u vidu heterogenost zavarenih
spojeva, odnosno pojavu mismečinga (različite čvrstoće metala šava i osnovnog
metala), analiza obuhvata elasto-plastične parametre mehanike loma, kao što su otvaranje
vrha prsline i J integral. Takode, analiza u ovom radu obuhvata i probleme kao
što su zaostali naponi i geometrijske nepravilnosti, koji mogu značajno da utiču na
integritet zavarenih konstrukcija.

AB  - Podaci о trenutnom kvalitetu cevnog sistema su potrebni radi donošenja odluke о daljoj eksploataciji i ukupnoj осепi pouzdanosti kotlovskog postгojenja. U pogledu otkaza kritičпа mesta па cevnim sistemima su zаvareni spojevi, zbog heterogene strukture i značajne promene mehaničkih osobina. U radu je prikazan metodološki pristup analizi stanja cevnog sistema
kotlova, а па ргimеru vrelovodnog kotla VKL-50 opisane su metode ispitivanja kvaliteta zavarenih cevi i izloženi rezultati ispitivanja, što је omogućilo осеnu pouzdanosti zavarenih spojeva u eksploataciji.
