Presence of crack due the constant exploitation of turbine shaft

AB  - Designing, constructing and putting into operation a hydroelectric power plant includes complex
tasks. Stresses of turbine and hydromechanical equipment of hydro power plants arise during the
production of parts and assembly of equipment (residual stresses), in the process of performing
functional requirements in exploitation and in the disturbed process of exploitation.
After several decades of constant exploitation of the horizontal bulb turbine, which is an integral
part of the hydroelectric power unit, empirically, the formation of a crack occurs in the turbine
shaft due to the influence of corrosion, erosion and cavitation.
Through experimental tests and calculations it has been determined that values of bending stresses
of the turbine, which occur due to the action of fatigue and corrosion, as well as stress
concentration, are bigger than 25 MPa for flanges exposed to water, and in other case bigger than
40 MPa for flanges exposed to `corrosive water` and can cause the occurrence of surface cracks
on the transition radius between the cylindrical part of the shaft and the flange. It has been
determined that stress values in the zone under the influence of bending stresses were bigger than
allowable values, which led to the occurrence of many cracks due to fatigue corrosion. One of
those cracks caused the failure of the shaft and of the whole turbine.

Experimental and numerical analysis of a walls made from aerated concrete blocks exposed to fire

AB  - The unsteady heat conduction in composite planar structure, with arbitrary number of layers, using analytical approach based on Greeds Functions (GF) is analyzed. The analytical solution for spatial and temporal temperature distribution is evaluated in the general form and expressed in the terms of the convolution integrals. The GF are employed in the novel approach for calculation of Thermal Response Factors (TRF) with arbitrary shape functions for unsteady heat conduction in composite planar structure. The two pairs of TRF for spatial and temporal distribution of the temperature and the thermal flux are obtained. The whole analysis is performed in the time domain. A numerical scheme for efficient evaluation of convolution integral suitable for practical application in the case of the long term measurements with lower sampling rates is developed. The in-situ measurements of inside and outside surface temperatures and outside heat flux for a building wall under real dynamical environmental conditions during the period of then days are used for validation of the presented results and to demonstrate the possible practical application. Using developed approach and recorded surface temperatures as inputs the temporal and spatial distributions of the temperature and the thermal flux are obtained. These results are compared with experimental data and numerical simulations obtained by the Finite Volume Method (FVM).

Phytoremediation of agricultural land contaminated with pesticides

AB  - Pesticides are substances intended for preventing, destroying, suppressing or reducing pests.
They are in use for more than 60 years and they are divided according to purpose, chemical
composition and toxicity category. The use of pesticides in agriculture has positive and negative sides, both from an economic as well as a social and environmental point of view. It is known that pesticides through biogeochemical cycles mature to all environmental media, and even the food chain, which explicitly has an impact on human health. Phytoremediation is one of the natural methods used for solving the problem of the presence of pesticides in agricultural soils, using plant species that perform stabilization and degradation of pesticides. During the planning ecoremediation project of degraded agricultural land, selection of phytoremediation techniques depends on many factors, among other things, the types of contaminants and plant species that will be used.
After examining the results of some studies, reports, and regulations, this paper shows the
importance of phytoremediation of degraded agricultural land in the light of affordable and green
technology without negative effects and products on the environment and human health as well as
appropriate techniques of modern man who seeks to sustainable development. It is necessary to take into consideration the use of biopesticides as alternatives to current trend of uncontrolled use of conventional pesticides.

Developing a methodology for the integrated numerical evaluation and performance assessment of soil-pile-pier

AB  - In the paper is developed a discrete numerical solid pile model with a discontinuity and defects. Model included performance-based seismic evaluation of the soil-pile-bridge pier interaction. The pile discontinuity and defects are modelled by reducing the specific finite elements and elastic modulus of concrete. The wave-propagation response of the pile was analyzed based on a step-by-step numerical integration using the Hilber-Hughes-Taylor (HHT) method in time domain (THA). The response analysis is performed with an integration of individual reflectograms into a reflectogram surface, which is generated in a 3D cylindrical coordinate system. Non-linear response of the system is considered using the incremental-iterative Newton-Raphson`s method, while the stability analysis is performed according to the modified geometrical nonlinearity analysis of stability. Determination of critical load and effective length of the pile are performed based on numerical solution and using regression analysis of the power function. The procedure of the soil-pile-bridge pier performance evaluation is based on the incremental nonlinear dynamic analysis (INDA). The system's input signal is treated through the generated artificial accelerograms, which were subsequently processed by soil layers and for the bedrock. Fragility curves were constructed based on solutions of the regression analysis and the probability theory of log-normal distribution, while the generation of reliability curves is based on a solution of vulnerability.

AB  - Da bi se procenila sigurnost zavarenog spoja па delu jedne konstrukcije izradene od šavnih cevi, potrebno је ispitati mehaničke i tehnološke karakteristike mаtегijаlа. Ispitivanja zatezne čvrstoće, tvrdoće, žilavosti i па savijanje izvedena su па mikrolegiranim čelicima Х60 i Ј55. Cevi od čelika Х60 su zavarene ЕРР i visokofrekventnim postupkom, а cevi od čelika J55 su zаvагеnе samo visokofrekventnim postupkom. Ispitivanja su pokazala da materijal Ј55 zavaren visokofrekventnim postupkom može da se koristi za odgovorne cevovode do temperature -20C.
Materijal Х60 zavaren visokofrekventnim postupkom zbog niske žilavosti zavarenog spoja nе može da se koristi па niskim temperaturama, а zavaren postupkom ЕРР može da se upotrebljava za odgovorne cevovode do tempeгature -20С, s tim da parametri zavarivanja mогајu da se usklade tako da оmоgućе blaži režim zаvагivаnја kojim bise dobila niža čvrstoća i tvrdoća
zаvагеnоg spoja, а veća žilavost.
