AB  - Assessing heat released only related to the formation of primary crystals provides results with a significantly higher sensitivity than a traditional assessment of undercooling value. In this work, two similar Ti5B1 master alloys (commercial and refined) are used for grain refinement of Al7Si4Cu aluminum alloy to assess narrow differences in heat release during primary crystallization. The heat released related to primary crystallization is 2.50 +/- 0.03, 3.16 +/- 0.12, and 7.92 kJ kg(-1) for samples treated with the refined master alloys, commercial master alloys, and sample solidified without grain refinement, respectively. The acquired results showed that the suggested method is more efficient in comparison with traditional metallographic or undercooling methods for the assessment of grain refining efficiency with the potential to extend the suggested approach on a wide range of metallic structures where solidification occurs by eutectic-type primary crystallization characteristics.

AB  - Turbine and generator rotors and shafts undergo high stresses during regular working life
and, from a safety and operational aspect, are the most significant components of a power
generation system. Depending on the appropriate operating conditions, like temperature and/or
corrosion the, shafts can be fabricated out of low/high alloy heat resistance material or of low
alloyed, highly toughened material for different application. Despite known good practice and
developed operation procedures, the failures of shafts sometimes occur. The right and well-defined
failure analysis is the basis for feasibility analysis of repair method in the power generating industry.
The analysis of direct and indirect costs of repair after the failure analysis as well as the analysis of
the repair and post-repair conditions of the repaired element is the vital for decision on the key
question. Is it possible to repair this element and what is the optimal repair strategy?
This paper compares and analyses two approaches, by weldability analysis and weld cycle
simulation, in order to determine welding feasibility analysis of cracked hydro turbine shafts.

AB  - The fracture surface appearances are slowly changed through decade’s side by advantages in technology of steel production.
Basic requirements for cleaner steels and lower energy consumption during production induce that newer steels have some
different fracture features compared to the old ones. This paper describes morphology of different corrosion fatigue and
stress corrosion cracks. The brief failure analysis with key results will be presented for each case mentioned in paper, and
emphasize will be on morphology and characteristic features of fracture surfaces. Macro appearance of fatigue cracks will be
discussed in detail and characteristic features of stress corrosion fractures will be analyzed. Also, the results from scanning
electron microscopy will be presented in this paper.

Gas cylinder rupture induced by local corrosion damage

AB  - Commercial gas cylinders are common type of pressure vessels in many health care and technical facilities. Unexpected
failures of gas cylinders occur despite of fact that the design, manufacture route, quality control, transportation, and handling
are specified by various standards and regulations, particularly in domain of periodic inspection. A case study of the sudden
failure of the 25 years old gas cylinder made of low-alloy steel is presented in this paper. Exploded cylinder was filled with
commercial mixture of nitrogen and CO/CO2. Results of chemical analysis, mechanical testing and microstructure and
fracture surface examination of gas cylinder material are given in this paper. Key results from failure analysis revealed micro
corrosion pitting as a consequence of undesired traces of moisture. This slow crack initiation combined with gas mixture
filling and exhausting cycles, promoted the local damage which could explain the mechanism of failure. In addition, the
analysis of gas cylinder material in moment of failure is evaluated by using the critical distance parameter

Investigation of the Repair Welding Technology Using Ni Base Electrode

AB  - Metal materials are subjected to innumerable time-dependent degradation mechanisms when operate in power, petrochemical and refinery plant. These materials are subjected to multiaxial stresses, creep, fatigue, corrosion and abrasion. As a result of service especially at high temperatures and high pressures, can lead to forming cracks, damages or failures. In situation of breakdown in such systems there is a need for weld repair on plant components and repair work can be expensive and time-consuming. Most weld repairs of low alloy steels require high-temperature post weld heat treatment (PWHT); but in certain repairs, however, this is not always possible. Expenses of the repair work could be reduced if the weld repairing is performed on site. Also, application of the nickel based filler metal can be alternative to performing PWHT. These repair welding procedures with Ni based filler metal could be categorized as cold repair welding. Purpose of presented investigation was to compare a repair welding technology with filler austenite material based on Ni and without application of the PWHT, with a classical repair welding procedure with preheating and PWHT and using a filler metal with chemical composition similar to parent metal. Properties comparison of the welded joints obtained by these two repair welding technologies was performed for the Cr-Mo steel (13CrMo4-5) by the metal arc welding procedure with covered electrode (MMA - 111). Weldability analysis by the analytical equations and technological tests for determination of the sensitivity to crack forming for cold and hot cracks by the CTS and Y tests, were performed for both repair welding technologies. Tensile tests, absorbed energies tests, banding tests and hardness measurements were performed on trial joins. Light optical microscopy (LOM) was applied for microstructure analysis. The fracture toughness of welded joints obtained by both investigated technologies, were estimated by the calculated stress intensity factor KIc and dynamic stress intensity factor KId for weld metal and heat affected zone. All of the obtained results were analyzed and discussed. It was concluded that repair welding technology with Ni base filler material without PWHT, enables welded joints without the appearance of cracks, with a good mechanical properties, slightly higher hardness in the HAZ, but with lower expenses compared to standard repair welding technology. In applying this technology in emergency welding repairing on-site, on the equipment and industrial facilities with high security requirements, inspection using non destructive technique has to be frequently applied compared to standard procedures.

State Analysis and Integrity of Welded Structures of the Upper Ring of the Turbine Runner Guide Vane Apparatus of Hydroelectric Generating Set A6 on Hydro Power Plant Djerdap 1

AB  - During the refurbishment of the hydroelectric generating set A6 on HPP "Djerdap 1", for the state analysis and assessment of the level and causes of degradation of the structure of the vertical Kaplan turbine runner guide vane apparatus non-destructive tests and inspections, as well as destructive tests of base material and welded joints, have been carried out after 40 years of service. Results of non-destructive tests performed on welded joints are presented in this paper (magnetic particle and ultrasonic inspection), as well as results of destructive tests of the base material and welded joints (testing of tensile properties, impact testing, metallographic analyses of the structure). A large number of crack type line indications were detected by magnetic particle inspections, while the occurrence of partial penetration in roots of welded joints was detected by ultrasonic inspections, as well as lamellar tearing of the base material. Tensile properties of tested samples taken in longitudinal and transverse direction fulfilled the requirements of the standard with certain deviations, which does not stand for samples taken in z-direction with significantly lower values of contraction of the cross-section than minimum prescribed values, which proves that base material is not resistant to the occurrence of lamellar cracks. Metallographic tests performed on specimens taken from the base material in longitudinal and transverse direction showed that the microstructure is stripe-shaped and ferrite-pearlite with non-metallic inclusions of oxide, sulphide, silicate and aluminate type, while metallographic tests performed on specimens taken from welded joints showed that their microstructure is stripe-shaped and ferrite-pearlite with non-metallic inclusions of oxide type. A large number of micro- and macro-cracks were detected in the microstructure as well. Experimental tests enabled the determination of the causes of occurrence of lamellar tearing in base material and crack type defects in welded joints, while analytical calculation that refers to the stress state enabled integrity of welded structure of the upper ring of the turbine runner guide vane apparatus.

AB  - This paper describes the analysis of major failure of 28 MW horizontal hydro turbine shaft. The analysis of load carrying capacity of critical radius and fractography analysis are presented. Special emphasize is on metallurgical failure analysis of in-service crack initiation. The analysis of stresses is obtained by the finite element method and the developed model and load conditions are described. Finite element analysis is performed for case of normal service and start-up regime. Based on the failure analysis and numerical calculations, it could be concluded that the seal box design led to constant flow of river water in zone of critical radius which resulted as occurrence of corrosion fatigue cracks and major failure of turbine shaft. Suggestions for problem solution for the turbine shaft are also presented.

AB  - Na deset hidro-generatorskih jedinica 'Đerdap 2' ugrađene su horizontalne Kaplan turbine, nominalne snage 28 MW, izrađene u Rusiji. Posle 163411h rada (približno 22 godine) došlo je do loma vratila turbine agregata A6 u zoni velike koncentracije napona, na mestu prelaznog radijusa R80 između prirubnice i glavčine radnog kola. To je bio povod da se izvrše ispitivanja, metodama bez razaranja (vizuelno ispitivanje, ispitivanje penetrantima, ispitivanje magnetnim česticama, ultrazvučno ispitivanje), zavarenih spojeva i osnovnog materijala vratila ostalih turbina. Tim ispitivanjima utvrđeno je da na svim vratilima u zoni prelaznih radijusa, po čitavom obimu vratila, postoji veliki broj površinskih prslina, koje su mogle odgovarajućim projektom tehnologije reparaturnog zavarivanja da se saniraju iako su pojedinačne prsline bile dužine do 430 mm i dubine do 20 mm. Šuplja vratila turbina izrađena su, zavarivanjem, iz tri dela i to cilindrični delovi od čelika 20GS, a prirubnički deo vratila i sama prirubnica od čeličnog liva 20GSL. U cilju produženja radnog veka i ušteda na demontaži i montaži vratila turbina, razvijena je metodologija reparaturnog zavarivanja bez demontaže agregata. Metodologijom sanacije prslina na vratilima turbina je, zbog njihovog konstrukcionog rešenja i funkcije u eksploataciji, trebalo veliki broj detalja precizirati, pažljivo razmotriti i koordinisano izvršiti u cilju sigurnosti za njihovo ponovno korišćenje. Ukoliko bi se samo neki od ovih detalja prevideo, podcenio ili nepravilno sagledao, moglo bi doći do značajnih problema u radu kompletne turbine. U radu je, zbog specifičnosti sprovedene metodologije u sanaciji prslina, pored tehnologije zavarivanja data i procedura pripreme vratila sa redosledom izvođenja radova.

AB  - Najznačajniji delovi hidroelektrana, vratila turbina izložena su tokom rada visokim naprezanjima, puzamju, zamoru i koroziji. Zbog toga je korisno preduprediti oštećenja tokom rada, povećati pouzdanost i produžiti radni vek postrojenja. Eksploatacioni uslovi mogu da dovedu do prslina i loma u homogenom materijalu, tako da postoji potreba za reparaturom dela postrojenja. A ona može biti skupa ili dugotrajna. U okolnostima kada se reparatura izvodi na licu mesta, posebno pažljivo treba da se definiše tehnologija reparaturnog zavarivanja, parametri postupka, i izbor dodatnog materijala. U ovom istraživanju izbor dodatnog materijala je bio tema i dati su rezultati. Vratilo je izrađeno od čeličnog liva 20Mn5 i na njemu su metodama IBR, otkrivena oštećenja tipa prslina dužine do 400 mm i dubine do 20 mm. Kako je planirano da se reparatura izvede bez demontaže vratila, primena termičke obrade nije bila izvodljiva. Analiza zavarljivosti osnovnoog materijala urađena je korišćenjem analitičkih jednačina. Rezultati su pokazali da je zavarljivost ovog čelika ograničena. Za reparaturno zavarivanje izabran je postupak REL (111) i dve obložene austenitne elektrode sa ciljem određivanja pogodnosti za upotrebu kao potencijalnih dodatnih materijala za reparaturu. U ovom istraživanju ispitane su Fe-Ni-Cr-Mo elektroda i elektroda na bazi Ni i njihove osobine su upoređene. Ispitivanje zatezanjem, ispitivanje apsorbovane energije, ispitivanje savijanjem, merenje tvrdoće i ispiivanje osetljivosti kao što su 'CTS' i 'Y' probe, izvedeni su na ispitnim spojevima dobijenim zavarivanjem osnovnog materijala, 20Mn5, ispitivanje savijanjem, merenje tvrdoće i ispiivanje osetljivosti kao što su 'CTS' i 'Y' probe izvedeni su na ispitnim spojevima dobijenim zavarivanjem osnovnog materijala, čelika 20Mn5, sa ispitivanim dodatnim materijalima. AB  - The most significant components of hydropower plants are turbine shafts and generator rotors which undergo time-dependent processes such as high stresses, creep, fatigue and corrosion. It is therefore desirable to prevent in-service damages, improve reliability and extend the operational life of the plant. Plant operation can lead to cracking and failures in homogeneous materials, therefore a need for repair welding on plant components, which can be expensive and time-consuming, exists. In the circumstances when repair welding has to be carried out on site, special care has to be taken in defining repair welding technology, process parameters and selection of filler materials. In this research a selection of filler materials for repair welding on site of hydropower turbine shaft was performed and results were presented. The shaft was made of the cast steel 20Mn5 and presence of damages in the form of cracks which were up to 400 mm long and up to 20 mm deep was detected through the use of NDT methods. As the repairing was planned to be carried out without disassembling of the shaft, application of heat treatment procedures was not feasible. Weldability analysis of the base material was performed through the use of analytical equations. Results have shown that weldability of this steel is limited. For the repair welding a MMA (111) welding process was selected and two covered austenitic electrodes were analyzed in order to establish the feasibility of their use as potential filler material for repairing. In this research a Fe-Ni-Cr-Mo electrode and Ni based electrode were tested and their properties were compared. Tensile testing, absorbed energies tests, bending tests, hardness measurements and sensitivity tests such as 'CTS' and 'Y' were performed on test joints obtained by welding of base material, 20Mn5 steel, with investigated filler materials. Obtained results were analyzed and a Ni based electrode was selected as most suitable for repair welding.

Weldability analysis of the base material was performed through the use of analytical equations. Results have shown that weldability of this steel is limited. For the repair welding a MMA (111) welding process was selected and two covered austenitic electrodes were analyzed in order to establish the feasibility of their use as potential filler material for repairing. In this research a Fe-Ni-Cr-Mo electrode and Ni based electrode were tested and their properties were compared. Tensile testing, absorbed energies tests, bending tests, hardness measurements and sensitivity tests such as 'CTS' and 'Y' were performed on test joints obtained by welding of base material, 20Mn5 steel, with investigated filler materials. Obtained results were analyzed and a Ni based electrode was selected as most suitable for repair welding.",

Optical and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were used for microstructural and fracture analysis. For composition determination of the microconstituents energy dispersive X ray spectroscopy (EDS) was used. To evaluate mechanical properties, hardness and microhardness measurements were performed. Investigations based on the microstructural features with the idea to indicate suitability of weld repair of the column were performed in this study. It was observed that the crack initiation, caused by oxidation/corrosion and thermal stresses induced by temperature gradient, appeared in the inner side of the tube wall and propagation occurred along grain boundaries. The results clearly showed the presence of an irregular microstructure which contributed to crack propagation through the tube wall. An occurrence of precipitated needle-shaped carbides/carbonitrides and brittle a phase was also identified in the microstructure. Results of the microstructural and fracture analysis clearly indicate that reformer furnace columns made of heat resistant steel HK 40 were unsuitable for weld repair.

AB  - Već dugi niz godina se čelik 13CrMo4-5 (~Č7400) primenjuje za izradu delova termoenergetskih postrojenja kao što su elementi kotlova i cevi. Ovaj čelik pripada grupi uslovno zavarljivih čelika, koji mogu uspešno da se zavaruju uz primenu posebnih mera, kao što su predgrevanje, termička obrada nakon zavarivanja i drugih mera predostrožnosti, a obično se koristi dodatni materijal sličnog hemijskog sastava. Obzirom na specifičnost primene, pri reparaturnom zavarivanju posebno interventnom zavarivanju, potrebno je voditi računa o parametrima procesa zavarivanja i izboru dodatnih materijala. U radu je izvedena proračunska analiza i predviđanje optimalnih parametara reparaturnog zavarivanja sa ciljem dobijanja kvalitetnog zavarenog spoja sa zahtevanim mehaničkim osobinama bez naknadne termičke obrade. Pored toga izvršen je kontrolni proračun čvrstoće metala šava za dodatni materijal sličnog hemijskog sastava, a na osnovu predloženih parametara zavarivanja.
AB  - Over the years 13CrMo4-5 (~Č 7400) steel is applied for production of the parts as pressure vessels and pipes in the thermo energetic plants. Steel 13CrMo4-5 is conditionally weldable and it could be successfully welded and weld repaired with the special care and if preheating and post weld heat treating (PWHT) procedure are applied. It is usually welded with similar filler material. In consideration to specific application of the 13CrMo4-5 steel, in the case of breakdown and emergency repair welding, special care have to be taken to defining welding process parameters and selection of the filler materials. In this investigation a results of the calculations and estimations for the repair welding parameters is based on the analytical equations. Analysis is performed to obtaining optimal parameters for sound welded joint with optimal quality and mechanical properties without PWHT of the joint. Also, calculations of the weld metal strength are performed on the base of previously defined welding parameters for the filler metal similar to base metal.

AB  - One of the globally accepted principles in the Sustainable Development Strategy is sustainable production and consumption which are including environmental, material and energy efficiency in each stage of production of goods and services, starting from design, production, to primary and secondary use and recycling and disposal. Portland cement is a pre-eminent construction material which world production exceeds 2 billion t per year. Despite this success, the industry faces challenges related to improved durability and enhanced performance while at the same time improving the sustainability of production. Portland cement is not environmentally very friendly material. The production of 1t of portland cement requires 1.6 t of raw materials, primarily good quality limestone and clay. Also, production of 1t of portland cement clinker is said to create approximately 1t of CO2 and other greenhouse gases (GHG) and requires lots of fuels and energy. The cement industry is fully aware of their part of the responsibility in implementing all the necessary measures and over the past decades, has been actively involved in seeking ways to consume less energy and natural resources, and emit less CO2 per unit of cement produced. Cement industry can significantly contributes to the sustainable development by continuously reducing the CO2 emission from cement production by increased use of biofuels and alternative raw materials as introducing modified low-energy clinker types and cements with reduced clinker content. .

AB  - An analysis of the influence of heterogeneity of the ferriteaustenite welded joint on its integrity has been performed. The Charpy specimens, with notch positioned in different regions of welded joint, have been tested using the instrumented pendulum to separate crack initiation and growth energy. In all cases tested (different heat input, room and low temperature, down to -60°C), weld metal had the lowest toughness, due to the presence of S ferrite, which was not the case in the heat affected zones, having surprisingly high toughness, including both crack initiation and growth energies. Finally, J-R curves have been obtained by using standard fracture mechanics testing procedure and compared with crack driving forces, obtained numerically using King's method, enabling estimation of influence of cracks on integrity of ferriteaustenite welded joints in cylindrical pressure vessel.

AB  - Čelik 13CrMo 4-5 (~Č7400) već dugi niz godina se primenjuje za izradu delova termoenergetskih postrojenja kao što su elementi kotlova i cevi. On spada u grupu niskolegiranih konstrukcionih čelika za rad na povišenim temperaturama do 600°C. Čelik 13CrMo 4-5 pripada grupi uslovno zavarljivih čelika, koji mogu uspešno da se zavaruju uz primenu posebnih mera, kao što su predgrevanje, termička obrada nakon zavarivanja i drugih mera predostrožnosti, a zavaruje se sa dodatnim materijalima sličnog hemijskog sastava. U ovom radu je izvršena procena zavarljivosti osnovnog materijala na osnovu analitičkih jednačina i izvršena su ispitivanja na osnovu tehnoloških proba osetljivosti na pojavu prslina (Y i CTS). Kao dodatni materijali u ispitivanjima su korišćene elektrode sličnog hemijskog sastava (Castolin 71D) i austenitne elektrode na bazi nikla (Castolin 2222 Xuper Nucleo Tec). Dobijeni preliminarni rezultati ukazuju, da u slučajevima interventnih popravki zavarivanjem bez dodatne termičke obrade, ne treba koristiti klasične dodatne materijale, zbog mogućnosti pojave prslina u zavarenom spoju, osim u slučaju primene tehnologije sa kontrolisanim unosom toplote, kao i da bi se za interventna zavarivanja mogle koristiti elektrode na bazi nikla, u ovom slučaju Castolin 2222 Xuper Nucleo Tec.
AB  - Over the years steel 13CrMo 4-5 (~Č7400) is applied for production of the parts as pressure vessels and pipes in thermo energetic plants. This steel is from the group of the low alloyed constructional steels for application on elevated temperatures up to 600°C. Steel 13CrMo 4-5 is conditionally weldable steel and could be successfully welded with the special care and application of preheating, post weld heat treating and other precautionary measures. It is usually welded with similar filler material. In consideration to specific application, at repair welding special care have to be taken in defining weld process parameters and selection of filler materials. In this investigations a estimation of the weldability of the steel 13CrMo 4-5 is performed on the base of the analytical equations and technological tests for the crack sensitivities (Y and CTS tests). As filler material a electrodes with similar chemical composition (Castolin 71D) and austenite nickel based alloy (Castolin 2222 Xuper Nucleo Tec) were used. Preliminary results has shown that in case of the emergency repair welding with similar filler material without PWHT, a cracks could be formed in welded joint and application of the controlled deposition method have to be applied. Also, a filler material based on nickel as Castolin 2222 Xuper Nucleo Tec, could be applied.

abstract = "Čelik 13CrMo 4-5 (~Č7400) već dugi niz godina se primenjuje za izradu delova termoenergetskih postrojenja kao što su elementi kotlova i cevi. On spada u grupu niskolegiranih konstrukcionih čelika za rad na povišenim temperaturama do 600°C. Čelik 13CrMo 4-5 pripada grupi uslovno zavarljivih čelika, koji mogu uspešno da se zavaruju uz primenu posebnih mera, kao što su predgrevanje, termička obrada nakon zavarivanja i drugih mera predostrožnosti, a zavaruje se sa dodatnim materijalima sličnog hemijskog sastava. U ovom radu je izvršena procena zavarljivosti osnovnog materijala na osnovu analitičkih jednačina i izvršena su ispitivanja na osnovu tehnoloških proba osetljivosti na pojavu prslina (Y i CTS). Kao dodatni materijali u ispitivanjima su korišćene elektrode sličnog hemijskog sastava (Castolin 71D) i austenitne elektrode na bazi nikla (Castolin 2222 Xuper Nucleo Tec). Dobijeni preliminarni rezultati ukazuju, da u slučajevima interventnih popravki zavarivanjem bez dodatne termičke obrade, ne treba koristiti klasične dodatne materijale, zbog mogućnosti pojave prslina u zavarenom spoju, osim u slučaju primene tehnologije sa kontrolisanim unosom toplote, kao i da bi se za interventna zavarivanja mogle koristiti elektrode na bazi nikla, u ovom slučaju Castolin 2222 Xuper Nucleo Tec., Over the years steel 13CrMo 4-5 (~Č7400) is applied for production of the parts as pressure vessels and pipes in thermo energetic plants. This steel is from the group of the low alloyed constructional steels for application on elevated temperatures up to 600°C. Steel 13CrMo 4-5 is conditionally weldable steel and could be successfully welded with the special care and application of preheating, post weld heat treating and other precautionary measures. It is usually welded with similar filler material. In consideration to specific application, at repair welding special care have to be taken in defining weld process parameters and selection of filler materials. In this investigations a estimation of the weldability of the steel 13CrMo 4-5 is performed on the base of the analytical equations and technological tests for the crack sensitivities (Y and CTS tests). As filler material a electrodes with similar chemical composition (Castolin 71D) and austenite nickel based alloy (Castolin 2222 Xuper Nucleo Tec) were used. Preliminary results has shown that in case of the emergency repair welding with similar filler material without PWHT, a cracks could be formed in welded joint and application of the controlled deposition method have to be applied. Also, a filler material based on nickel as Castolin 2222 Xuper Nucleo Tec, could be applied.",

AB  - Višeslojni metalni materijali su nastali kao rezultat specifičnih potreba ili sa ciljem dobijanja kvalitetnog, a jeftinijeg materijala. Posebnu grupu čine višeslojni čelici, koji su našli primenu za izradu sečiva u grafičkoj industriji, u hemijskoj industriji za izradu delova postrojenja, kao i u vojnoj industriji. O problematici zavarivanja višeslojnih čelika ima relativno malo podataka i oni se uglavnom odnose na zavarivanje kombinacije višeslojnih niskolegiranih i nerđajućih čelika, dok o zavarivanju višeslojnih čelika visoke čvrstoće skoro i da nema raspoloživih podataka. U radu su prikazani rezultati istraživanja sa ciljem osvajanja tehnologije zavarivanja dvoslojnih čelika visoke čvrstoće i dobijanja kvalitetnog zavarenog spoja sa optimalnim mehaničkim i strukturnim osobinama. Ispitivanja su vršena na dvoslojnim čelicima, debljina 8 i 11mm, tvrdoća 60 i 45 HRc, sa odnosom debljina tvrdog i plastičnog dela 40:60. U okviru obavljenih istraživanja definisani su optimalni parametri elektrolučnog zavarivanja i dodatni materijal i izvršena je strukturno mehanička karakterizacija zavarenih spojeva.
AB  - Multi layer metal materials, are developed as a result of specific requirements or/and to obtain lower price metal material with high performances. Special group of multilayer materials are multilayer steels which are applied for cutters in graphical industry, in chemical industry for process equipment and for military purposes. Process data about technologies for welding of multilayer steels, are very exceptional in literature. Most data are treated welding of clad carbon steels with stainless steel. For welding high strength dual hardness steels, technology data practicality not exists in literature. In the paper are presented results of investigation of welding technologies development for high strength dual hardness steels with aim to obtain high quality welded joint with optimal mechanical and structural properties. Investigations were performed on two layer steel plates of 8 and 11 mm in thickness, with dual hardness of 60 and 45 HRc and thickness ratio of 40:60. The optimal welding parameters for arc welding process were defined. Testing of mechanical and structural properties of welded joint was performed.

AB  - As a part of the coal fired power stations a coal milling plant is important, as it supplies a coal and air mixture for combustion in a power plant. Coal milling plant is involved in wearing process, since the raw coal is an abrasive substance. Availability of milling plant is critical to the ability of coal fired power stations to generate electricity, and repair work can be expensive and time-consuming. The details of the investigation of the optimal parameters for repair welding of abrasive damaged working wheel of the coal mill are presented in the paper. Repair was performed without disassemble of the wheel. Diameter of the wheel was 4100 mm, and a weight was approximately 23 tons. The wheel was made of the cast steel GS 17 CrMo 55. As the weldability of this steel is limited, a series of trial welds with different welding and thermal conditions were performed. The effects of the different welding processes and parameters, different filler materials and different preheating and post weld heat treatment conditions on hardness and macro and micro structure were analyzed. The Y probe was used for sensitivity testing to crack forming. Based on obtained results, the optimal welding parameters were selected, and the repair welding of the wheel was performed. Hardness measurement and NDT testing were verified quality of the applied repair welding.

AB  - U ovom radu prikazano je istraživanje u cilju određivanja optimalnih parametara reparaturnog navarivanja diska radnog kola mlina za ugalj u termoelektrani, koji je oštećen abrazijom. Reparatura je izvedena na radnom kolu, bez njegove demontaže na sastavne delove kao što su disk, prsten i udarne ploče. Prečnik radnog kola je θ 4100 mm, a težina 23 tone. Odlivak diska radnog kola je izrađen od čelika GS17CrMo55, koji spada u grupu uslovno zavarljivih čelika, koji mogu uspešno da se zavaruju uz primenu posebnih dodatnih materijala, predgrevanja i drugih mera predostrožnosti. Iz tih razloga izvršena je anlitička procena zavarljivosti, ispitivanja na osnovu tehnoloških proba i izvedeno nekoliko serija probnih navarivanja CrMo čeličnog liva sa različitim uslovima navarivanja i termičke obrade. Na osnovu ovih ispitivanja izvedena je analiza uticaja primene različitih postupaka i uslova navarivanja, dodatnih materijala, kao i različitih uslova termičke obrade pre i posle zavarivanja na strukturno - mehaničke osobine CrMo liva. Rezultati analize omogućili su izbor optimalnih parametara navarivanja i izvođenje reparaturnog navarivanja diska radnog kola mlina za ugalj. Rezultati merenja tvrdoće i IBR-a potvrdila su zadovoljavajući kvalitet reparaturnog navarivanja diska.

AB  - The latent heat of solidification of any alloy depends on the chemistry and the microstructure developed during solidification process. Effects of chemistry on the release of the latent heat during solidification and influence of the cooling rate on the size of the Secondary Dendrite Arm Spacing (SDAS) of the Al-Si-Cu series of aluminium alloys for the following levels of silicon: 5, 7, 9 and to 11 wt. % Si, have been analysed. The solidification process, fraction solid analysis and latent heat release measured by the Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC) apparatus has been studied using cooling curves at different cooling rates ranging from 6, 10 and 50 °C/minute. The findings based on experimental results and their analysis indicate that increase in the Si content of the investigated alloys Al-Si(5-11)Cu1, shift the characteristic temperatures towards lower values and have considerable effect on the fraction solid and the amount of released latent heat. The effect of the cooling rates is not so significant.
