The Influence of Parameters of Sand Soil on States PH 2D Frame on Seismic Response

AB  - During earthquakes that exceed the designed level of the structure, the structure gets damaged. Here, the structure-foundation-soil is considered as a system, and the effect of the soil on the piles can be replaced by nonlinear p-y curves. Work on this topic began as early as 1957, based on the analogy between the triaxial test and the form of soil failure, and during the 1970’s, a number of researchers made significant progress in the development of appropriate models for different types of soil. Eurocode 8 pays special attention to the selection of earthquakes as a set of accelerograms. For areas within a radius of several hundred kilometers from central Romania and its southern part, the Vrancea hypocenter has a significant influence. In North Serbia and its surroundings, other sources of earthquakes are also possible, but when choosing accelerogram, the response spectra of several Vrancea records should also be used. The SSI model itself, where the soil is replaced by p-y curves, even though it might look complicated, it is significantly simpler and leads to faster results than integral 3D models. By using adequate soil parameters, fairly reliable data can be obtained on the degree and distribution of damage to the SSI system, like plastic hinges. In soil models used for clean sand, the curves used seem significantly more reliable than clayey ones, but here too caution is needed because the degree of compaction (relative density) has a significant effect, and the way of determining it is still not reliable.

AB  - The paper indicates the problems of maintaining buildings constructed in the IMS system, founded on piles with a basement floor. Also presented are the problems with the installations of buildings with a roof terrace, such as downpipe verticals that are extending through the building, or installations of water supply and sewerage that run through the technical floor at ground level. An approximate analysis of the hydrodynamic impact is presented. The analogy of the effects of caverns in sandy soil with lateral soil expansion during liquefaction was also used. Given the change in climatic conditions, it is necessary in some cases to analyze the influence of atmospheric conditions in the soil-structure interaction. The advantage of buildings built in the frame IMS system (Žeželj) in seismically active areas was also indicated. These buildings are also more resistant to problems that may arise later in construction of deep foundations.

AB  - This paper presents the manner of modeling the aftershock (in an earthquake), the phenomenon whose significance has been noted in the second half of the 20th century. Itlists the constructional systems in which the consideration of the aftershock is important. It shows in more detail the model of the skeletal RC construction, i.e. the 2D RC facade frame constructed on the 60cm-diameter drilled RC piles. The dynamic interaction soil-pile, i.e. the non-linear behaviour of the soil is modelled with the horizontal p-y curves for sand, applying multiplastic link elements. For the accelerogram El Centro during time history (TH) the global and (local) drift, the condition of plastic hinges were considered.

AB  - U radu je prikazana procedura evaluacije seizmičkih performansi interakcije šip-tlo inkrementalnom nelinearnom dinamičkom analizom (INDA -Incremental Nonlinear Dynamic Analysis). Ulazni signal u sistemu je tretiran preko generisanih veštačkih akcelerograma, a koji su dodatno procesirani po slojevima tla do osnovne stene. Postprocesiranje INDA analiza izvršeno je posebno za stub, a posebno za šip, tako da su konstruisane krive PGA=f(DR) u kapacitativnom domenu. Za ovako konstruisane krive određeni su performansni nivoi, a na osnovu određenih DR i PGA parametara sprovedene su regresione analize. Krive povredljivosti su konstruisane na osnovu rešenja regresione analize i teorije verovatnoće log-normalne raspodele. Takođe, konstruisane su i krive pouzdanosti na osnovu rešenja analize povredljivosti. Metodološki postupak za analizu seizmičkih performansi, prezentovan u ovom istraživanju, omogućava integrisano kvantitativno-kvalitativno razmatranje i evaluaciju kompleksne interakcije konstrukcija-tlo (SFSI -Soil-Foundation-Structure Interaction).
AB  - The purpose of this paper is to present the methodology for performance-based seismic evaluation of soil-pile-bridge pier interaction using the incremental nonlinear dynamic analysis (INDA). The system's input signal was treated through the generated artificial accelerograms which were subsequently processed by soil layers and for the bedrock. The INDA analysis was post processed separately for the pier and for the pile, so that the constructed PGA=f(DR) curves are in the capacitive domain. For these curves the authors identified the performance levels, while the regression analyses were conducted based on the specific DR and PGA parameters. Fragility curves were constructed based on the solutions of regression analysis and the probability theory of log-normal distribution. Based on the results of fragility analysis, reliability curves were also constructed. The methodological procedure for seismic performance analysis presented in this study provides an integrated quantitative-qualitative consideration and evaluation of the complex soil-foundation-structure interaction (SFSI).

The Use of Computers in Determining the Parameters of the Functions for Loess Soil

AB  - The paper presents the possibilities of determing functions of some characteristic parameters of loess soil. The loess soil is of Eolian origin, its formation is related to the Ice Age, it is classified as dusty-sandy-clayey soil, and very large extent of results are possible depending on humidity, location, porosity, anisotropy, etc. The problem of loess soilis is very complex and this is an attempt to restore partially neglected research by Milović, Stevanović and others with the classification of characteristics, which can only be used with a certain probability.

AB  - The purpose of this paper is to present the methodology for performance-based seismic evaluation of soil-pile-bridge pier interaction using the incremental nonlinear dynamic analysis (INDA). The INDA analysis was post processed separately for the pier and for the pile, so that the constructed PGA=f(DR) curves are in the capacitive domain. For these curves the authors identified the IO, CP i GI performance levels, while the regression analyses were conducted based on the specific DR and PGA parameters. Fragility curves were constructed based on the solutions of regression analysis and the probability theory of log-normal distribution. Based on the results of fragility analysis, reliability curves were also constructed.

AB  - A multitude of existing bridges fail to meet the criteria of seismic resistance, as designed according to
inadequate regulations, which eventually led to the reduction in their resistance. This practice requires
interventions (rehabilitation or strengthening) conducted on their structure, which in turn requires
developing methods of assessment of seismic performances of existing reinforced concrete (RC)
girder bridges. Due to budget constrains it is impossible to strengthen all the bridges, so that a list of
priorities is necessary to be drawn. The rank of a specific bridge in this list is stated by the importance
of the road, age of the bridge, technical regulations according to which the bridge was designed and
the condition of vital support elements. Ranking requires conducting multi-criteria optimization. This
paper is focused on overpass, which is used to demonstrate the developed methodology.

AB  - The paper deals with the impact of changes in parameters of the artificial accelerograms on the seismic performances of structures. Thereby the seismic response and the seismic damage were analyzed. Nonlinear response of the system is determined by the incremental dynamic analysis (IDA), while the damage analysis of the system was considered by the damage index. The study found that for generation of the artificial accelerograms a considerable number of cycles is required, which improves the fit range of the response spectra relative to the range of the response spectra according to EN 1998-1, which is measured by a deviation of the spectral acceleration curves as a function of the ductility of the system. Increasing the time duration of the accelerograms slightly reduces the level of ductility for a corresponding value of the damage index.

AB  - Presented in this paper are the results of the analysis of seismic performances of an overpass founded on piles, in interaction with the soil, located over the E75 Highway Novi Sad - Belgrade, as part of the Kovilj loop. Applied methods include: non-linear static push-over (NSPA) analysis, target displacement analysis, parametric target displacement analysis, vulnerability and reliability analy-sis. The overpass is modelled and taken into consideration for seismic effects along its transverse direction as a 2D planar model. Modelling of elastic-plastic strain is performed using plastic hinges, whereas the development of non-linear strain is considered using the incremental-itera-tive method. It is determined that the failure mechanism of the system occurred because of the plasticization of column ends, and it is maintained as such until the end of the non-linear analysis, along with the changes of performance states in plastic hinges. System vulnerability analysis has shown that up until the point where Sa = 0.2g, nearly all levels of damage are initiated, however, already at values of Sa ≈ 0.3g, significant damages to the overpass are ex-pected along the transverse direction with the probability of P ≈ 1. On the other hand, reliability analysis of the over-pass shows that reliability of R > 0 is achieved for Sa < 0.23g for levels of significant damage and for lower ones.
