AB - In the paper, the analysis of the bearing capacity of the pile and the redistribution of the
load on the pile toe and shaft was carried out. The tests were carried out by a static load test (SLT)
incrementally increasing the compressive force on the test pile, and the tension force on the anchor
piles. The test system consisted of one test pile and two anchor piles with a reaction beam. Two
tests were conducted according to the same test program, where the test piles were of the same
length, while the length of the anchor piles in the second test was increased. In the first test, the
anchor pile failed, while in the second test, the test pile failed. Based on the achieved limit values of
settlement of the test and anchor pile, the bearing capacity of the test pile at the toe and shaft was
determined. Subsequently, a CPT test was carried out and the bearing capacity was calculated
according to the LPC-CPT method.

AB - The paper presents the technical solution for the foundation of the facilities of the
Boiler House for the energy utilization of waste and chimneys. Next to the boiler house, the
construction of a Bunker for waste storage is planned, which is founded at a depth of 6.0m below
the top of the boiler house's base plate. Based on the conditions of limited settlement, the
foundation of the boiler house was envisioned on drilled piles, while a hidden pile wall was
designed to protect the foundation pit of the bunker, which has the function of preventing large
deformations of the boiler house structure and does not jeopardize its stability. Calculations of the
bearing capacity of the piles based on the soil parameters from the geotechnical study are
presented, as well as the results of the pile tests with axial vertical pressure force.

AB - The paper shows the comparative analysis of behavior and bearing capacity of piles examined using the Dynamic Load Test (DLT) according to Static Load Test (SLT) results. The pile testing methodology is based on the existing ASTM standards and experiences of the authors of the paper. The pile tests were carried out using counterweights, reactive system, dynamic testing equipment, hardware and software for SLT and DLT. The data obtained by testing were statis-tically processed, and also a regression analysis of the linear function was conducted, resulting in the creation of the model for the change of mobilized static bearing capacity from DLT according to SLT. In addition, a procedure for correcting the solution of mobilized static bearing capacity from DLT according to SLT, is made by observing provisions of standard EN 1997-1:2004, so the average deviation of solutions from DLT according to SLT is reduced. Apart from that, through iterations, the value of correlation factor ξ5 is determined, taking into consideration solutions presented by SLT and DLT of piles of the real structures.

AB - The application of dispersive soil can result in various types of damage, and even the collapse of embanked build-ings if it is not identified. Dispersive soils cannot be uniquely identified by visual identification in the field, or by usual standard methods used for soil identification in the geo-mechanical laboratory. The paper presents the results of laboratory geomechanical tests aimed at identifying and classifying erodible dispersive fine-grained soil. The tests were carried out using the crumb test, the double hydrometer test (SCS), and the pinhole test on samples: sandy clay embankment dams of ‘Rovni’, loess from different locations (Zemun, Novi Beograd, Titel, Kelebija, Srbobran, Slanka-men, Ruma, Mali Iđoš) and kaolinite sandy clay deposits Grabež - Aranđelovac. The possibility of improving disper-sive soil by adding fly ash was also analyzed. Pinhole tests on dispersive soil samples with the addition of 10, 30 and 50 % ash showed that there was a decrease in dispersivity of natural soil for one to two dispersion classes.

AB - The paper presents the static load tests (SLT) and dynamic load tests (DLT) of the piles and numerical analyses of piles in interaction with the soil of wind turbines. Pile tests were conducted using the equipment with counterweights for SLT and an autonomous system for the control of DLT of the piles. Numerical DLT analyses were performed by the signal matching method. Tests proved that the design resistance of piles of SLT and mobilized static resistance of DLT are higher than the design forces obtained from the design of the wind turbine foundations. Also, the need to develop a plan for testing the bearing capacity of piles, concerning large and significant buildings was emphasized.

AB - The paper presents the results of testing the influence of mineralogical composition on the physical and mechanical properties of clayey soil, i.e. Atteberg consistency limits. The tests were conducted on samples of highly plastic clay soil with a high content of clay component in the granulometric composition (CF>80%). The results show that the liquid limit (LL) and the plasticity index (PI) increase with the increased content of clay minerals. High content of clay fraction, high values of Atteberg's consistency limits, analysis of colloidal activity, mineralogical and chemical analyzes showed that these are bentonite type clays containing montmorillonite and kaolinite minerals.

AB - Due to rapid development of modern highways and railroad in Serbia, the need for embankment materials has increased. Deposits of natural materials used for this purpose often contain dispersive soils. On the other hand, thermal power plants in Serbia annually generate several million tons of fly ash, which could be used to reduce the dispersion of material embedded in embankments. The paper presents the results of tests conducted for the first time in Serbia to assess the improvement in natural soil dispersivity with fly ash from a thermal power plant. The dispersivity of mixtures of fly ash and natural soil was tested according to ASTM and BS standards. To determine the optimal ash content, 10, 30 or 50% of fly ash was added to the soil samples. The results show that 30-50% of fly ash reduces the dispersivity of natural soil for one to two dispersion classes.

AB - The paper presents and analyzes the results of testing the properties of cement stabilized mixtures of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) and crushed stone aggregate (CSA). Tests were carried out on reclaimed asphalt pavement and crushed stone aggregate mixtures with varying RAP content (0%, 20%, 40%, 60% and 80%), as well as with a varying addition of cement (3%, 5% and 7%). The purpose of these tests was to determine the optimal proportion of recycled asphalt pavement in a mixture with crushed stone aggregate, and the optimal addition of cement as a hydraulic binder. Furthermore, the aim was to determine physical-mechanical parameters: the indirect tensile strength (R-t) and the dynamic modulus of elasticity (E), which are applied in pavement design during the process of cold recycling. On the basis of the obtained values, categorization of the stabilized mixture was carried out according to the standard EN 14227-10: 2006, which continues to be applied in the design of pavements. The maximum proportion of recycled asphalt in the stabilized mixture was determined as being up to 60%; the stabilized mixture was categorized into the "T1" and "T2" categories - gravelly soils.

Water retention parameters and sediment dispersivity of the Zemun loess plateau (Belgrade, Serbia)

AB - The paper presents the results of recent investigations of the Zemun Loess Plateau, which focused on unsaturated and dispersive loess soil. Soil water retention curves, SWRCs, were determined experimentally, using a pressure plate apparatus for suction values of up to 1500 kPa, according to ASTM(1). Soil dispersivity was determined by means of the double hydrometer test, crumb test and pinhole test according to BS2 and ASTM1. The tests were carried out on samples of loess soil with different grain-size distributions, as well as natural and artificially prepared samples with different degree of compaction. The results of the study confirm that an indirect correlation can be established between SWRC parameters and soil dispersivity. Soil dispersivity increased with increasing soil entry values (u(a) - u(w))(b) and the residual degree of saturation S-res, and decreased with decreasing coefficient lambda. The air entry value and residual degree of saturation increased and the desaturation rate decreased with increasing proportions of the clay-size fraction. Soil compaction appears to have a greater effect on SWRC parameters than on soil dispersivity. The air entry value increased, but coefficient lambda. decreased with increasing density. Loess soil dispersivity tends to depend more on the chemical and mineral composition. Soils with more sodium and clay minerals are more dispersive.

AB - Stability analyses were performed for a real engineering-geological cross-section of unsaturated Quaternary silt sediments. Unsaturated shear strength is a function of the two stress variables: net normal stress and matric suction. Constitutive equations (unsaturated shear strength - matric suction) and (angle ∝b - matric suction) were defined for these silty soils. These equations were established on the basis of primary constitutive relationships for unsaturated soils by soil-water characteristic curves (effective degree of saturation - matric suction). Soil-water characteristic curves were obtained from results of experimental tests on draining saturated soil samples under different pressures, performed for the first time in Serbia, in a 15 bar pressure plate extractor, according ASTM. Effective shear strength parameters c' and ∝' were also experimentally obtained from direct shear tests. Stability analyses were performed using the GLE method for different climate conditions, before and after rainfall, i.e. for different values of matric suction. Stability analyses were performed for the same groundwater level, too. It was confirmed that rainfall decreases the angle (pb and stability of natural unsaturated soil slopes. Decreasing the ∝b angle of unsaturated soil, due to rainfall, decreases the safety factor of the slope faster for coarse-grained soil than for finegrained soil.

It is critical to define active pressure in unsaturated soil for designing retaining walls, based on the expanded theory of lateral pressure by Rankin, considering interaction between active pressure and absorption of soil. For unsaturated floury soil occurring above groundwater level for a long time, the angle of internal friction is estimated based on the soil-water curve, for various depths of retaining walls and different values of absorption, which is constant and decreases with depth, the active pressures and critical height are determined for foundation pits with vertical unsupported walls. The results confirm that absorption reduces active pressure on a retaining wall and the critical height of the vertical walls of the foundation pits can be increased when absorption grows.

AB - U radu je dat prikaz veze između Atterbergovih granica konzistencije i parametara zbijenosti tla dobijenih korelaciono-regresionom analizom. Veze između granice tečenja wl, granice plastičnosti wp, maksimalne suve gustine rdmax i optimalne vlažnosti wopt su dobijene na osnovu rezultata laboratorijskih ispitivanja sprovedenim na velikom broju uzoraka iz glinenog jezgra nasutih brana: Rovni, Selova, Prvonek i Barje. Primenom regresione i korelacione analize dobijene su empirijske jednačine i dijagrami. Na osnovu dobijenih jednačina moguće je proceniti vrednosti optimalne vlažnosti i maksimalne suve gustine poznavanjem Aterbergovih granica plastičnosti.
AB - This paper presents the relationship between the Atterberg limits and soil compaction parameters obtained by the correlation-regression analysis. The relations between the liquid limit wl, plastic limit wp, maximum dry density rdmax and optimum moisture content wopt are obtained on the basis of the results of laboratory tests measured on a large number of samples of clay core earthfill dams Rovni, Selova, Prvonek and Barje. The regression and correlation analysis were obtained empirical equations and diagrams. Based on the obtained, the value of the optimum moisture content and maximum dry density of knowing the Atterberg limits of plasticity can be estimated.
