Microstructural analysis as the indicator for suitability of weld repairing of the heat resistant Cr - Ni steel

AB  - Metallurgical evaluation was performed on a fractured column tube of the reformer furnace in an ammonia plant. The tubes were manufactured from centrifugally cast heat resistant steel HK 40. Optical and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were used for microstructural and fracture analysis. For composition determination of the microconstituents energy dispersive X ray spectroscopy (EDS) was used. To evaluate mechanical properties, hardness and microhardness measurements were performed. Investigations based on the microstructural features with the idea to indicate suitability of weld repair of the column were performed in this study. It was observed that the crack initiation, caused by oxidation/corrosion and thermal stresses induced by temperature gradient, appeared in the inner side of the tube wall and propagation occurred along grain boundaries. The results clearly showed the presence of an irregular microstructure which contributed to crack propagation through the tube wall. An occurrence of precipitated needle-shaped carbides/carbonitrides and brittle a phase was also identified in the microstructure. Results of the microstructural and fracture analysis clearly indicate that reformer furnace columns made of heat resistant steel HK 40 were unsuitable for weld repair.

AB  - Čelik 13CrMo 4-5 (~Č7400) već dugi niz godina se primenjuje za izradu delova termoenergetskih postrojenja kao što su elementi kotlova i cevi. On spada u grupu niskolegiranih konstrukcionih čelika za rad na povišenim temperaturama do 600°C. Čelik 13CrMo 4-5 pripada grupi uslovno zavarljivih čelika, koji mogu uspešno da se zavaruju uz primenu posebnih mera, kao što su predgrevanje, termička obrada nakon zavarivanja i drugih mera predostrožnosti, a zavaruje se sa dodatnim materijalima sličnog hemijskog sastava. U ovom radu je izvršena procena zavarljivosti osnovnog materijala na osnovu analitičkih jednačina i izvršena su ispitivanja na osnovu tehnoloških proba osetljivosti na pojavu prslina (Y i CTS). Kao dodatni materijali u ispitivanjima su korišćene elektrode sličnog hemijskog sastava (Castolin 71D) i austenitne elektrode na bazi nikla (Castolin 2222 Xuper Nucleo Tec). Dobijeni preliminarni rezultati ukazuju, da u slučajevima interventnih popravki zavarivanjem bez dodatne termičke obrade, ne treba koristiti klasične dodatne materijale, zbog mogućnosti pojave prslina u zavarenom spoju, osim u slučaju primene tehnologije sa kontrolisanim unosom toplote, kao i da bi se za interventna zavarivanja mogle koristiti elektrode na bazi nikla, u ovom slučaju Castolin 2222 Xuper Nucleo Tec.
AB  - Over the years steel 13CrMo 4-5 (~Č7400) is applied for production of the parts as pressure vessels and pipes in thermo energetic plants. This steel is from the group of the low alloyed constructional steels for application on elevated temperatures up to 600°C. Steel 13CrMo 4-5 is conditionally weldable steel and could be successfully welded with the special care and application of preheating, post weld heat treating and other precautionary measures. It is usually welded with similar filler material. In consideration to specific application, at repair welding special care have to be taken in defining weld process parameters and selection of filler materials. In this investigations a estimation of the weldability of the steel 13CrMo 4-5 is performed on the base of the analytical equations and technological tests for the crack sensitivities (Y and CTS tests). As filler material a electrodes with similar chemical composition (Castolin 71D) and austenite nickel based alloy (Castolin 2222 Xuper Nucleo Tec) were used. Preliminary results has shown that in case of the emergency repair welding with similar filler material without PWHT, a cracks could be formed in welded joint and application of the controlled deposition method have to be applied. Also, a filler material based on nickel as Castolin 2222 Xuper Nucleo Tec, could be applied.

Reparaturno zavarivanje diska radnog kola mlina za ugalj od Cr-Mo čelika

AB  - U ovom radu prikazano je istraživanje u cilju određivanja optimalnih parametara reparaturnog navarivanja diska radnog kola mlina za ugalj u termoelektrani, koji je oštećen abrazijom. Reparatura je izvedena na radnom kolu, bez njegove demontaže na sastavne delove kao što su disk, prsten i udarne ploče. Prečnik radnog kola je θ 4100 mm, a težina 23 tone. Odlivak diska radnog kola je izrađen od čelika GS17CrMo55, koji spada u grupu uslovno zavarljivih čelika, koji mogu uspešno da se zavaruju uz primenu posebnih dodatnih materijala, predgrevanja i drugih mera predostrožnosti. Iz tih razloga izvršena je anlitička procena zavarljivosti, ispitivanja na osnovu tehnoloških proba i izvedeno nekoliko serija probnih navarivanja CrMo čeličnog liva sa različitim uslovima navarivanja i termičke obrade. Na osnovu ovih ispitivanja izvedena je analiza uticaja primene različitih postupaka i uslova navarivanja, dodatnih materijala, kao i različitih uslova termičke obrade pre i posle zavarivanja na strukturno - mehaničke osobine CrMo liva. Rezultati analize omogućili su izbor optimalnih parametara navarivanja i izvođenje reparaturnog navarivanja diska radnog kola mlina za ugalj. Rezultati merenja tvrdoće i IBR-a potvrdila su zadovoljavajući kvalitet reparaturnog navarivanja diska.
AB  - In the paper the details of the investigation of the optimal parameters for repair welding of abrasive damaged working wheel of the coal mill are presented. Repair was performed without disassemble of the wheel. Diameter of the wheel was θ 4100 mm, and a weight was approximately 23 tons. The wheel was made of the cast steel GS17CrMo55. As the weld ability of this steel is limited, weld ability analysis of the base material by the analytical equations was performed and a series of trial welds with different welding and thermal conditions were done. The effects of the different welding processes and parameters, different filler materials and different preheating and post weld heat treatment conditions on hardness and macro and micro structure were analyzed. The Y probe was used for sensitivity testing to crack forming. Based on obtained results, the optimal welding parameters were selected, and the repair welding of the wheel was performed. Hardness measurement and NDT testing were verified quality of the applied repair welding.
