AB - U radu su prikazani aspekti standardizacije i karakteristični primeri ispitivanja nosivosti šipova sa određenom analizom rezultata, pri čemu se metodologija ispitivanja oslanja na postojeće ASTM i sopstvene standarde, sopstvena znanja i iskustva, ali i na metodologiju ispitivanja prikazanu u naučnom radu Pile Integrity and Load Testing: Methodology and Classification.

AB - The paper presents and analyzes the results of testing the properties of cement stabilized mixtures of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) and crushed stone aggregate (CSA). Tests were carried out on reclaimed asphalt pavement and crushed stone aggregate mixtures with varying RAP content (0%, 20%, 40%, 60% and 80%), as well as with a varying addition of cement (3%, 5% and 7%). The purpose of these tests was to determine the optimal proportion of recycled asphalt pavement in a mixture with crushed stone aggregate, and the optimal addition of cement as a hydraulic binder. Furthermore, the aim was to determine physical-mechanical parameters: the indirect tensile strength (R-t) and the dynamic modulus of elasticity (E), which are applied in pavement design during the process of cold recycling. On the basis of the obtained values, categorization of the stabilized mixture was carried out according to the standard EN 14227-10: 2006, which continues to be applied in the design of pavements. The maximum proportion of recycled asphalt in the stabilized mixture was determined as being up to 60%; the stabilized mixture was categorized into the "T1" and "T2" categories - gravelly soils.

Water retention parameters and sediment dispersivity of the Zemun loess plateau (Belgrade, Serbia)

AB - The paper presents the results of recent investigations of the Zemun Loess Plateau, which focused on unsaturated and dispersive loess soil. Soil water retention curves, SWRCs, were determined experimentally, using a pressure plate apparatus for suction values of up to 1500 kPa, according to ASTM(1). Soil dispersivity was determined by means of the double hydrometer test, crumb test and pinhole test according to BS2 and ASTM1. The tests were carried out on samples of loess soil with different grain-size distributions, as well as natural and artificially prepared samples with different degree of compaction. The results of the study confirm that an indirect correlation can be established between SWRC parameters and soil dispersivity. Soil dispersivity increased with increasing soil entry values (u(a) - u(w))(b) and the residual degree of saturation S-res, and decreased with decreasing coefficient lambda. The air entry value and residual degree of saturation increased and the desaturation rate decreased with increasing proportions of the clay-size fraction. Soil compaction appears to have a greater effect on SWRC parameters than on soil dispersivity. The air entry value increased, but coefficient lambda. decreased with increasing density. Loess soil dispersivity tends to depend more on the chemical and mineral composition. Soils with more sodium and clay minerals are more dispersive.

AB - The paper is presenting a mathematical formulation of an originally developed ground motion record surface (GMRS) and response spectra surface (RSS) for the presentation of 2D seismic ground motion records (GMR) and the corresponding response spectra (RS), respectively. These surfaces are constructed by transformation from 2D polar coordinate system to a 3D cylindrical coordinate system and then to the 3D orthogonal coordinate system. The principle of application of three orthogonal coordinates for each discrete value is used in order to achieve easy manipulation and interpolation of spatial surface. Scaling of accelerograms was carried out using two procedures: the Least Square Method (LSM) and Spectral Matching (SM).

Characterisation of collapsing loess by seismic dilatometer

AB - Structural collapse and sudden volume changes represent a major geotechnical issue, particularly in loess soils. There are different criteria for assessing collapse potential based on laboratory test results, which require the collection of undisturbed samples from test pits. This can be a complicated and costly procedure, often financially unjustified for smaller projects. This paper presents the results of seismic dilatometer tests (SDMT) performed at a single location in a loess soil in Belgrade, in addition to the results of single oedometer collapse tests performed on high quality samples from test pits. After comparing laboratory test results it was possible to determine that in samples collected from boreholes, dry unit weight is approximately 20% higher than in block samples taken from test pits, while moisture content is between 1 and 4% higher. Unit weight estimated from DMT is on average 15% higher than the unit weight obtained from block samples. The constrained modulus (M-DMT) determined by DMT are highly compatible with oedometer modulus (E-oed) obtained from samples at natural moisture content. This paper presents two possible ways of identifying collapsing loess based on intermediate DMT parameters and the ratio of G(0)/M-DMT. The tests results indicate that if the ratio between the material index (I-D) and the horizontal stress index (K-D) is greater than 5, the danger of collapse is imminent. Simultaneous observation of the changes of I-D and K-D with depth on a semi-log graph in the same scale is recommended. In this way the relative distance between them may be clearly noticed; the larger the distance becomes, the greater the risk of collapse. In the collapsing loess ratio G(0)/M-DMT is found to be higher than 21 for K-D less than 0.6, while in non-collapsing loess G(0)/M-DMT is less than 21 for higher values of K-D. In terms of DMT, loess is considered as underconsolidated soil, which is one of the most common "definitions" of loess.
